s2member api with ssl

Using the s2member api with a non secure site works fine
However when i install the https plugin or use the s2member_force_ssl customer field from s2member, the api function won’t return.

For example embedding the following php code inside a page works for http but not https
echo get_current_user_id();

any idea? thanks
