I have installed and enabled the S2Member plugin, created the membership options and login pages, and set a couple test pages to protected using the Page Level restriction box. Even if I am logged out, anyone can still access the protected pages.

For example, http://www.ccnpguide.com/can-you-see-this is set to require highest level #4 access, but you can view the page without any redirection.

I would love to use S2Member and will likely upgrade to pro if I can get the free version working properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Aaron

Hi Aaron.

Have you configured your Membership Options page? The restrictions won’t work until that is set. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Membership Options Page[/hilite]

If you do have that set up, could you take a screenshot of your restriction for that page you linked to, please? Thanks.

I hope that helps. :)

I have created and configured a Membership options Page. Here are the screenshots you requested:

Please advise next steps.

Thanks!

That’s odd… And you saved the changes after choosing a Membership Options page?

If so, then maybe you have another plugin causing a conflict. Could you do a test deactivating other plugins one by one? After each try to open that protected page from another browser where you’re not logged in and see if you can still view it.

The Membership Options Page settings are saved. Also, I deactivated the plugins I have installed one-by-one and was still able to access the protected page using another (logged out) browser each time.

That’s weird. I don’t know why that’s happening without going into your settings a reviewing them…

Is that the only page you protected? Have you protected other pages/posts that you could link to so I try opening them?

I created a new post and set it to level 4, but I can still see it when not logged in.

Okay…

One more test, please. Could you try using the default TwentyEleven theme? I’m wondering if the theme is affecting the s2Member restriction in some weird way.

If that doesn’t work, I’m going to ask you to email me your login info so I take a look at your installation to try finding what the problem is, if you’re okay with that.

Cristián,

Unfortunately I cannot change the theme because it is a production site that generates income for me. Downtime isn’t easy.

I would be happy to set up a temporary admin account for you if you could take a quick look. What is your email address?

Just sent you an email, you can reply to it with the login info.

Got it on not being able to change the theme. There’s a plugin that lets you change the theme for a single page, but I think it’d be best if you could install a new WP in another folder to test this and see if you can get the restriction working there. And then add the theme and other plugins until it breaks, in order to find what’s causing the problem.

Got your email. Thanks for the info.

Right, the restriction is not working. I don’t know what’s causing that yet.

I noticed in your Pages, Posts, Tags and Categories lists, that the column s2Member adds to show a lock indicating which are protected, is missing in your installation. I don’t know if another plugin is causing it, or if s2Member wasn’t installed properly.

I also noticed that the security key you entered doesn’t have 60 characters, although I doubt that’d cause the s2Member column to be missing from those lists. But it could affect the restrictions, although I don’t think they’d stop working. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Security Encryption Key[/hilite]

Could you try reinstalling s2Member? It doesn’t look like you’ve sold/restricted anything with it yet, so it wouldn’t affect the live site or the user access.

And if that doesn’t help, could you create a separate WP installation to test this without other plugins or themes? It’ll make it easier to establish where the problem is.

Thanks!
