Does the most recent update include server-side validation for registration/profile fields yet?

I did some research and came upon a post, HERE. (This was dated back in 2012)

I followed the instruction Jason posted and got it working for the registration fields when submitted, but in the profile fields, no JavaScript validation occured when fields aren’t filled.

Could I please get some help?
