I am using S2 for membership registration and Buddypress for social features. I want a members directory that can be searched by name, location, and hopefully any other custom registration fields. I installed the BP Profile Search plugin, but it only uses Buddypress fields. I see how to create Buddypress fields. But in my registration form, I am using S2 custom fields. MY QUESTION: Should I stop using S2 custom fields and use Buddypress custom fields instead in order to get this plugin to work for me? If I got rid of the S2 fields and created Buddypres fields, would my registration form automatically include Buddypress fields in place of S2 fields? I would be ok with having people fill out a minimal number of fields to get registered for the site and then go back and fill out more information to complete their member directory listing. My other idea is to simply build a separate directory that is not dependent on S2 or Buddypress, but I would prefer not to do that. I understand that the topic of a searchable membership directory has been brought up many times, and it seems that there is no built in solution in S2 for the foreseeable future. I am trying to decide how to approach this issue and was hoping for some suggestions. I have seen the posts for rigging up a custom directory, but I’d really prefer to leverage existing plugins if possible. Thanks in advance. |
