I have seen many people post this same issue, but I have not seen a resolution.

I have generated a PayPal button to charge for my one level membership, however, my PayPal button does not show up on my “Registration” page, and instead, the page shows the “User registration is currently not allowed” notice. Selecting the “Allow Open Registration” feature is not an option, as I need to charge for registration.

I have used the free version of s2Member, and have now upgraded to Pro hoping it would solve this issue, but it hasn’t.

The site/page I am working on is: http://street-fox.com/register-3/

Can anyone offer a solution to my problem?

Thank you,
Randy

Thank you for reporting this important issue.

Unfortunately I’m unable to help you, really. This error isn’t something that s2Member’s throwing, but something your theme or another plugin is in control of. You can use PayPal Buttons/Pro Forms on any Post/Page at any time and they should work just fine.

I would recommend following the information provided in the first two steps here to see what’s causing this:

Thanks Bruce, unfortunately PayPal Pro Forms is giving me the exact same message. I’m not exactly sure what I’m missing here.

Randy, have you tried the troubleshooting advice here? Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips. I’d start with the plugins section.

I opened the page you linked to and see the message, but that’s not the default WP registration page. Pro-forms would not give that error.

What did you use to create that registration page and redirect to it from the default one?

Hi Cristian, I appreciate your response. I created the registration page in WordPress, and specified the page as my “Membership Options” page in the s2member “General Options” section.

I’ve read so many troubleshooting tips, but not address this issue. Most of them say one of two things:

• click the “allow anyone to register” in the WP admin settings, but s2member overrides that function
• click “allow open registration” in the s2member “General Options.” This isn’t an option for me as I need to charge for the registration.

Thank you for your help.

I see. But s2Member doesn’t redirect users to the Membership Options Page when they try to open the default registration page, which is what’s happening here, so something else is doing it.

Did you change to the default theme and deactivate other plugins to test what’s causing this? If you have just WP with s2Member, this doesn’t happen, so something else is doing it.

It’s fine to have Open Registration disabled, the registration page would still be visible to those that paid to signup.
