Hi

I have Optimize Press (OP) with s2member Pro. I have set up a membership site using OP and protected pages.

I have successfully used the membership settings page within OP to add a video. These appear with a player and work.

However, when I try to add the video option short codes within OP, the videos do not appear or play. I have tried adding the mp4 files in the protected s2member folder and I have also tried using Amazon S3 (including entering the S3 buckey key and secret code).

I would be grateful for direction on where I am going wrong. Extracts of both links below.

s2member folder

Amazon S3 – file is in the root of bucket not sub directory

Thanks

Simon

I have conducted some further testing.

If I load the video to the root of my public_html and use a direct URL link it plays without a problem.

I loaded a graphics file to my Amazon bucket and was able to link using the correct s2member syntax.

So….

1. I know Amazon S3 is linked correctly
2. I know the video is formatted correctly
3. The syntax and path to the video is correct – I have checked a number of times and proven path with graphic test

The issue appears to be that s2member does not like the video link in Optimize Press. As OP is such a popular membership plug-in, I am sure that this must work.

I would be grateful for any thoughts what I need to do to get videos to play.

Hi Simon.

I’d like to take a look at this to see why it may not be working.

Could you submit your site’s info? Including the name of the file and the page you’re testing this in. Let me know when you sent it. Thanks! s2Member® » Private Contact Form

Hi Christian

I have sent you the information requested using the private form.

Thanks, got the email.

I see the OptimizePress player in the page you linked to, but I don’t see s2Member installed in WordPress.

Hi Christian

s2member is installed in the directory http://www.digitalark.co.uk/resource_centre the same as OP.

Thanks

Simon

I see, thanks.

I tried loading the file with both of these addresses from your shortcodes above:

http://www.digitalark.co.uk/resource_centre/?s2member_file_download=/access-s2member-level1/03-wp-cleanup-MP4-large.mp4

http://www.digitalark.co.uk/resource_centre/?s2member_file_download=03-wp-cleanup-MP4-large.mp4

And I get the message: “The specified key does not exist”.

Does the file exist in your bucket? What’s its correct location? And is the filename written right? (case sensitive)

Hi Christian

I had tried changing the file name as though the capital letters may be an issue. The file name is correct and is in the root of my Amazon bucket. You can prove it works by accessing the dogs.jpeg (3rd short code below).

[new_video_with_placeholder video_url=”http://www.digitalark.co.uk/03-wp-cleanup-MP4-large.mp4″ + width=”640″ + height=”360″ + video_id=”video1″ + video_image=”http://www.videoimageurl.com” + autoplay=”true”] [/new_video_with_placeholder]

I could open this protected file just fine: http://www.digitalark.co.uk/resource_centre/?s2member_file_download=wp-cleanup-large.mp4

I tried the OP video shortcode with that URL and nothing. Then I changed the URL to the mod_rewrite version and the player showed up, but it disappeared when I clicked the play button. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Advanced Mod-Rewrite Linkage[/hilite]

[ ]

I don’t know why the file can be downloaded fine, but that player doesn’t like it.

Thanks

Could this be anything to do with directory permissions? I noticed that another script stopped working as permissions had been set to 644. I changed to 755 and it worked.

Oh great. Glad you found the issue! Thanks for the update. :)

Hi

I have not solved the issue, I was asking if this might be the cause of the issue?

How do I use the s2member shortplayer codes?

Thanks

Simon

Really? I tried the player in your test page and it opened the video…

[ ]

Notice that I used the mod_rewrite format for the URL, because some players don’t like the query string (the vars after the question mark). [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Advanced Mod-Rewrite Linkage[/hilite]

Thanks Christian,

Does this mean it is using the file stored in the s2member folder or the one in the Amazon S3 bucket? If it is the s2member folder, how do I modify to use S3?

Thanks

If you integrated s2Member with Amazon, then it’s using the file in Amazon. When linking to s2member-files it’ll just get rewritten in the server to the actual address in Amazon. See: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Advanced Mod-Rewrite Linkage[/hilite]

Everything discussed here is also compatible when/if combined with Amazon® S3/CDN Storage.

No problem. :)

Hi Christian

Sorry to trouble you again.

I have used the same code for another site using s2member storage, video plays with no problem. However, the video image does not appear. I have copied and pasted the code to the url bar and the image is displayed so know the path is correct. Is the syntax wrong?

[video video_url="http://www.practicalpmo.com/academy/wp-content/plugins/s2member-files/access-s2member-ccap-qa_template/videos/QA-Prioritisation-Overview.mp4" + width="640" + height="360" + video_id="video1" + video_image="http://www.practicalpmo.com/academy/wp-content/plugins/s2member-files/access-s2member-ccap-qa_template/videos/pmo-qa-prioritisation-overview.jpeg" + controlbar="bottom"]

Thanks

Simon

Hmm… Maybe you don’t need to protect the image and could just have elsewhere unprotected. But if you need it together with the video, you could try using a download key… [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Advanced Download Restrictions[/hilite]

Hi

Just moved the file to http://www.practicalpmo.com/academy/videos/pmo-qa-review-customise.jpeg as does not need to be protected but still not showing. I just get the play with the play button.

I see, then it’s unrelated to s2Member’s protection. Since it’s a problem with the video player shortcode you’re using, I’d contact its developer for help, since he’d be more familiar with how it works or why it may not. Have you contacted him?
