Hello all,
I am a web designer. I manage several websites. Most are not member websites
I am going to purchase the program. I need to know if I purchase it, do I need to buy the Unlimited-Site License or Network Support License?
The explaination given is somewhat confusing to me, because when a new client signs up with me; I register them and I create a new account separate from my other websites. I am the admin and tech contact on whois for all. If a client wishes to have a membership program, I would like to be able to say sure! :) But It would be much more manageable if I only had to do framework updates once instead of multiple times. I do not know what a blog farm is, nor do I think I want to know.
If I need the Network Support License, fine, but if I can save a hundred bucks, that would be even better.
Thanks in advance for answering my scatterbrained question.
Bill
P.S.
One of my sites has 2 WP. One for Registered Free Members and One for an Archive where there is a seperate membership registration with a free option is only for those who apply. I would like to do away with the second registration, but I was unsure if i could share the original registration.

Hi William.

Okay, I’ll explain the differences between the licenses a bit.

The Unlimited Sites one is for a same person that wants to use s2Member in several websites he owns.

This license is not appropriate for developers to use s2Member in several client sites. In this case, each client of the developer should have his own license for his site.

The Network Support license is required when you give your users a blog in your multisite network. The child blogs can use s2Member too, or not, it’d still require this license.

I have never had someone ask about using a multisite network for his client sites, though. I’ll have to ask Jason about it. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from him. :)

Hello William,

If you ever need the next license of s2Member, then you can simply go to your My Account page and just upgrade there, there should be a link that gives you a button, dpepending on what you want, you would only pay the difference.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the heads up on this thread.

If you’re running a Multisite Network installation, where each client has a child blog in your own Multisite Network (i.e. you’re hosting their sites for them), then you will need our Multisite Network Support License, and you will need to provide your customers with any support they might need, related to their use of s2Member.

We support you, but you support them. Make sense?

In other words, what you’ve requested is unique, but it essentially translates into you providing members of your Main Site, with child blogs of their own, which you are hosting on your Network. While your request is a little different from what’s listed on our site, this still falls into our definition of a Multisite Blog Farm. Meaning, you will need our Multisite Network Support License for this type of installation.
