Hi,
I’ve been checking your forum but couldn’t find an answer to my problem.

I’m getting a blank white page when I try to visit a page that is set as protected. I’m guessing it’s a parse error of some sort.

Here is the page in question, you can see the white page as well: http://www.myrestauranttheme.com/new-customer-info/

I checked Restriction options > page access restrictions, and it includes the page ID, nothing else. I don’t have the archive hiding thing turned on. I tested it with a different theme, but it’s the same. I tried changing it to a different level restriction, but same result.

UPDATE:

I just tried a Paypal sandbox transaction, and when the sandbox sent me back to my site after the test purchase, I received the same blank white screen: http://www.myrestauranttheme.com/?s2member_paypal_return=1&s2member_paypal_return_tra=fnIyOkN2WmtaUmRFZzRUc1d6OHd0U0hHbm5vUzJ3R0hldGZiOmExNjg5MzMxZGE4MjY4ZjQ2NGVhMDBlMmFkYjUyMTZifFQzGDFpvBtKT5T38aSf6i2ijIGr1Mn3yPy6V9vRZ7L4Ezqn5R6dMlzw5S6Vyl7YQJeAz8QgKEpSkHvSzlMKGz1hn9JdEn0NfnoC2fSt5qdEsa3fVin40Rds130g2WEZkUaprh9OgFb20zrOS1udfJkw0_xHsF6HoPfQo1Bc7T93X4QayEqZhf6XOeos-YgdFK1oFn_8bg594c_Deh34sEzw0tLRp-nWXIDeJ-mqR4eHKrMDiSdrdMb9vwlQYrk0FXQIqIEkqLl86MYZzvUPlQWU8EDEAaG6fYUOZdLcvlABjaIKcPj2EJtN13UsNvTsSbmwm69V3vICtrIQc6RbGsaZmYhnbxz2Pu0Yeiqf-Q4eYmAev59vwVJjloR7IwGpkg

Not good…

Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom.

I tried the link and saw the blank page. It is not the page you linked to the one shown white, but the Membership Options Page, where I got redirected to when trying to view the protected page. This is the URL in my address bar:

http://www.myrestauranttheme.com/buy/?_s2member_seekingtype=page&_s2member_seekingpage=2271&_s2member_seeking_uri=L25ldy1jdXN0b21lci1pbmZvLw%3D%3D&_s2member_reqtype=level&_s2member_reqlevel=1&_s2member_restype=page&s2member_seeking=page-2271&s2member_level_req=1

Those are the Membership Options Page Variables:
[hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Membership Options Page Variables (MOP Vars)[/hilite]

Now, if I go to that URL directly, it loads fine, the problem seems to be in the redirection. The redirection results in a 414, which means that the URL is too large. This is most probably the same problem with the one you get after checkout.

To fix that, you’ll need to change a setting in your server so it allows longer requesets. I believe it’s this one:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/core.html#limitrequestline

I hope it helps!

Yes, that did it. I have super security things enabled since 2 of my sites got hacked recently, and one of the security measures was to disable long URLs.

Thank you for your quick and knowledgeable support Cristián!

You’re welcome! I’m glad that solved it. :)

Ahh, this is great, i have noticed one of my restricted pages behaving in this exact same way.

The regular slug of my page, due to it’s title is quite long, so I’m guessing tis could be the problem I have too.

Bizarrely, the links only hit a whte screen when a member is logged in.

When they are logged out, the links work.

Any ideas?

I’ve just asked my host to look at the limit request line for me, so hopefully that is the issue and it can be resolved quickly.

Any ideas why my links would work when people are logged out though?

Does being logged in create a longer URL request?

Ross :)

It was indeed a security plugin that blocks long URL’s! Can’t believe it took me so long to work this out! God bless these forums!

Ross :)
