will this work for my client/lawyer?

I have a lawyer client who wants to have part of his site public, a general part viewable by only his own clients, and specific pages or posts that are only open to unique clients.
—Would this plugin be a good solution for him?
—if so, would the free or paid version be the best choice?
—Also, it would be helpful to know if there is specific language I should know if I choose this plugin & that will get me pointed in the right direction.

Yes, s2Member can handle that kind of access management. The free version will do for that. The Pro version has nice additional features that you may choose to have too, but is optional.

Public content would be left unrestricted. General content for clients could be protected at Level 1. Content specific to each client could be protected with custom capabilities. Video » s2Member (Custom Capabilities)

I’m not sure what kind of language you’re refering to here. You mean the language in which s2Member was coded? That’d be PHP, as is WordPress.
