Here is what I would like to do:

Have categories of posts, some that are entirely accessible by all (free) and then some that only the first portion *say first ~500 words are free but the rest is paid member content).

Then I would also like to restrict ALL post comments (using Disqus) beyond perhaps the X most popular comments (or first 5 for example) from being seen only to members. Ideally ALL comments I would like to only be added by paid members.

The theory here is that showing a few comments that are engaging would compliment a good post and encourage someone to sign up to read the entire post, more comments or engage in discussion. It draws several types of readers to subscribe.

Can you explain if this could be done? Is there a WordPress post UI command or short code to implement this within posts? Or can this be done automatically for posts in a certain category? Thanks!

Hi there. Thanks for your inquiry.

Yes, what you’ve described could certainly be accomplished with s2Member as a framework on which to build such a site. You would need to make use of s2Member’s Simple and/or Advanced Conditionals within your content, or perhaps directly inside your theme template files, if you prefer.

Please check this documentation in your Dashboard, with the free version of s2Member installed.
