I publish a monthly emagazine in PDF format accessible on payment via a Username / Password. My previous solution has become far too expensive and I have chosen S2MemberPro to switch to for delivery of my product. Currently I have a number of annual subscribers who purchase an annual subscription to the current year’s publications. Several have been with me since day one while others have joined later but purchase the back issues as well (in year blocks). I also have customers who only purchase individual issues as and when the subject appeals. I also have a monthly payment plan for those who do not want to pay for a full year in one go.

So what I need to do is create:
a) a level where my existing annual subscribers can access the currnet docs and the ones they have already purchased access to in past years.
b) a level where new subscribers can access just the current years issues.
c) a level where just the back issues from previous years can be accessed
d) a way that I can make the individual PDFs available as single purchase options within the S2Memeber Pro framework, without giving buyers access to the other docs.

I can’t quite get my head around how to implement it, I guess that a)-c) could be acgieved by the level restrictions but I’m really struggling to see how to create option d)

Am I missing something obvious? My web site is http://www.v2vangling.co.uk

Regards

Hi Brian,

The best way to achieve this would be to use the s2Member Custom Capabilities feature.

If you have a separate page for each of your PDF issues, you’d give each page it’s own Custom Capability (e.g., “issue1_2012”, “issue2_2012”, etc.). That will allow you to sell individual issues to existing members using the Custom Capability Buy Now feature (see Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Capability (Buy Now) Forms).

Now, to give new members access to all issues for this year, you’ll need to plan ahead a little. If you release issues monthly, then you know there will be 12 issues this year. To give new members access to all issues this year, you’ll simply create a signup form that gives them access to all the Custom Capabilities for this year’s issues (i.e., issue1_2012, issue2_2012, issue3_2012, […] issue12_2012).

Then, when you release the next issue and create a page for it, you’ll give that page the corresponding Custom Capability (which users who signed up for this years issue will already have) and the users who signed up this year will automatically have access to that new issue.

To sell access to all back issues for a specific year, you’d create a signup form that assigns all the Custom Capabilities for that year’s issues (e.g., issue1_2010 […] issue12_2010).

Custom Capabilities are very powerful and if you’re not familiar with them, I suggest checking out the Custom Capabilities video to learn more.

Thanks Raam, I had guessed it might require a page for each doc. I will have a go at what you suggest.

Many thanks

Brian
