Hi guys,
Just to make you aware there seems to be some sort of fatal conflict with BP 1.6 and S2Member.

The front end of the site works fine but the backend is completely locked in 500 errors.

PHP log shows this:

[07-Aug-2012 11:10:01] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in [...]/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/classes/constants.inc.php on line 2210

That particular line 2210 though just seems to be the straw that tips the camel’s back rather than the source of the problem which is too large a memory size.

Is it possible to get a timescale on when a fix will be issued?

Things that go bump in the night

This is a pretty pathetic response time, especially for a product I’ve paid money for.

Not even an acknowledgement? Just something saying ‘Thanks for the error log, we’ll look into getting an ETA for you…’ or even a question ‘Are you sure this is S2member?’ (I am by the way) – This is really not how you treat your customers.

Bump. ETA please, people.

Hi Laurie.

Sorry about the delay, we do try to get to tickets within 24 hrs since posted. I understand this is a big problem for you, so I’m sorry I didn’t get to see it sooner.

About the error you report, since it’s a memory one, did you try raising your memory setting for WordPress? If that’s not enough, maybe you need to talk with your webhost about the available memory available to you.

Could you please upload this server check script to your site and open it in your browser? http://www.s2member.com/r/server-check-tool/

I hope that helps. :)

Cristián – Thanks for getting back in touch. I took the steps recommended in your server script and increased my wordpress memory quota in wp-config.
Many thanks,
Laurie

I am using S2 with buddypress 1.6 and do not see any issues yet. I have done a clean install and the site is not live at the moment but will be soon. So far everything has been flawless. I will update this in a few more days once testing is complete.

Thanks for letting us know, Core! Looking forward to your update. :)

Cristián Hi

I have a similar problem. Have upgraded to BP 1.6.1 and the admin area is disabled with error 500. Upgraded memory to 96m and used your checker: http://www.ukagp.org.uk/members/s2member-server-check-120703.php.

Please advice.

Thanks

Adam

Hi Adam,

Did increasing the memory limit fix the problem?

If you’re getting an error 500, that would indicate a possible problem with the server configuration and you might want to check with your web host about that. Have you tried disabling s2Member to see if that’s even causing the problem?

Raam Hi

sorry for late reply but I was on leave. I learned how to check the error log and it appeared the error was related to the bp like plugin. All worked after I switched it off.

Thank you

Adam
