Can S2 be a Member Management Tool?

I’m working on a project for a non profit with limited budget.

They have a National organization with 100 local/regional chapters.

They would like to be able to sign up new members online, but each National member must choose an affiliate local chapter to be a member of. Choosing a chapter changes the cost of the membership as there are National dues & chapter dues.

Can S2 be used to create a registration form for such?

The content of the site remains FREE to all.

Once a member is registered, can S2 be used for constant contact and marketing initiatives?

Yes, s2Member can handle that type of payment system, but you’d need to code up the registration form that would then pass along to another page the “total payment” value (which you’d calculate on the form that you create, depending on which chapter/affiliate was selected). When you pass that “total payment” value to the checkout page, the s2Member shortcode that generates to payment form/button would by dynamically configured with the price you passed to it. You can also use one level (Free Subscribers) and then use s2Member Custom Capabilities to differentiate between members. Each member would get a specific Custom Capability that marks him/her as having selected a specific chapter/affiliate during signup. (You’d need to pass that Custom Capability to the s2Member signup form as well.)

Also, I suggest taking a tour of the videos section to get a better feel for how the plugin works. If you need something that is more akin to a directory (i.e., has lots of features for creating member-viewable list of users with their associated chapters/affiliates, etc.), then you’ll need to use a 3rd party plugin to accomplish that. We’re working on improving things in this regard for the next major release of the plugin.
