I have a business association made up of business owners. Certain portions of the site need to be members only. Membership is handled completely offline. members pay the association by check for new memberships and also for membership renewals.

I want the administrator to have the capability to add/delete new members and edit member information.

I do not want visitors to be able to register online and I don’t want any payments collected online.

I also need the capability of logged in members to complete custom forms.

Can I do this with S2 Member, and if so which version?

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,

Yes, you can disable visitor registration by turning off Open Registration (see Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Open Registration). Then, you can have an administrator manually add accounts after you’ve confirmed their payment (see Pre Sale FAQs » Can I create new Membership accounts manually with s2Member?).

s2Member Pro includes the Pro-Forms feature and that is designed to allow the creation of custom forms for registration purposes. You can create Custom Registration/Profile fields (see Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Registration/Profile Fields) with the free version and then use the [s2Member-Profile /] shortcode to display a profile editing form after the user has logged in (see Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Member Profile Modifications). That will allow you to collect additional information from the user.

Hi Raam,

Thanks for the reply. However, I’m still a bit confused as to whether I need the Pro version to do what I described.

The FAQ article, “Can I create new Membership accounts manually with S2Member?” discusses using a virtual terminal with PayPal Pro or Authorize.net. My client is using neither of these. They are collecting payments by check.

Regarding custom forms, am I understanding you correctly that the pro version is required to do what I described?

Jeff Lewis, from YaBB SE and SMF?

I want the administrator to have the capability to add/delete new members and edit member information.

Yeah, you can the same way you’d create users with WordPress, only the form would have a few more fields added by s2Member. [hilite path]Dashboard -> Users -> Add New[/hilite]

There’s also the users import tool, if you want to add them in bulk, but this one comes in the pro version. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Import/Export -› User/Member Importation[/hilite]

Regarding custom forms, am I understanding you correctly that the pro version is required to do what I described?

Yeah, only if you want to have the registartion pro-form in a page/post.

If you’ll use the regular WP registration form, you don’t need the s2Member Pro add-on. The custom profile fields will work with it too and are in the free version. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Registration/Profile Fields[/hilite]

Can I do this with S2 Member, and if so which version?

So, unless you want to use the pro-forms or the import tool, the free version seems to be enough.

I hope that helps. :)
