Can the registration email be sent after a new subscriber confirms his / her email? Currently when a subscriber registers on my site (http://www.RulingTheMarkets.com) they receive 3 emails – some from wordpress/s2member and some from Aweber. The 3 emails are as follows –

1 – Registration w login and password
2 – Request from Awebber to confirm email – than once confirmed….
3 – Free stuff… (auto response)

This is what is happening – people are “registering” and receiving the login email… but they never (or takes days) confirm their email (so they never officially op-in to my customer email list). I would like to delay the registration email (30 minutes) or change the order of the emails to the following.

1 – Request from Aweber to confirm email….. and once confirmed then the following
2 – Registration…..
3 – Free stuff

Any way to accomplish this or any other suggestions?

Hi Jim.

I don’t know how to delay the New User email, and the confirmation email is sent by AWeber, but s2Member doesn’t find out if the person confirms the email subscription there or not.

What you could do is have them opt-in to the list first and then, on confirmation, redirect them to the registration form. So they’d opt-in first and register second…

Thanks – I was afraid of that. Doing that just takes a bit more effort – You have to find and redirect all the “canned” s2member links and re-direct them to email sign in form from aweber – than upon confirmation send them to the webpage s2member form.

Thanks for you response.

Yeah, I realize it’s not exactly what you wanted. I took note of your idea and we’ll see if there’s something we can do in the future to make it easier to achieve. :)

Chistian – ok now i have some problems with the s2member log-in widget – today the following happen.

1 – open log in widget – redirect “signup now” link (within widget) to appropriate aweber form (discussed above)
2 – test – works just fine
3 – 60-90 minutes later went to log back into WordPress and decided to “retest” the link – this time I got a 404 page.??
4 – I investigated – w firebug and firefox – within the code of the no-longer working link – my home page had been inserted before – the redirect link. —> like this http://rulingthemarkets.com/forms.aweber.com/form/….
5 – not sure what happen ? but a link went from working to not working…

subsequent to that – I tried removing the widget from my side bar and reinserting the widget – when I reinserted the widget I “blanked” out the %%automatic%% in the “signup now” … the second widget is now showing up on my home page?? and the 1st widget is still there?? Even though neither are in my wordpress “mainside bar”widget area anylonger.

Seems like you have some gremlins in your widget? Can you help? Not sure what to do from here…

Hold off –

seems like – website is updating….. and removing widgets from side bar area… down to just 3 pages now and no page has “both” login widgets.

Perhaps this widget – doesn’t update in real time? – this would also explain – why the re-direct was working – and then 60-90 minutes later it wasn’t…. not sure..

Will check in a few hours again – If all pages have no widgets – I can try adding a widget again with redirect… I am sure this won’t be the last comment….. but for now it is..

Down to one page now

Maybe you can comment on how this widget gets updated – I am using godaddy, wordpress and s2member.

Being a novice – I just don’t get the “non-real-time” – maybe others don’t as well..

Will report back. Thanks

If you’re referring to the s2Member Login Widget, any changes there should update immediately. If they’re not updating immediately, I would check if you’re running a caching plugin that is possibly caching old values and try clearing/disabling that.

If you see widgets appearing when they’re not supposed to, that would indicate that your server or your web browser is loading an old copy. You might also want to try clearing your browser cache and refreshing again.

Raam – thanks the Cache widget was causing the update/changes not to occur in real-time.

The cache plugin also caused one page to update – and the other I checked 60-90 minutes later to have a different link.

For others having similar issues –

1 – turn of any cache plugin before updating the s2member side-bar widget (might be a good idea always but in 3 months of “updating my web page” this was my only “slow” update – not sure why – just FYI for others)

2 – update widget – save

2.1 – note I was updating the “signup now” button in my widget – the format that worked for me was “http://aweber/…….” Do not use “www.aweber/….” (that didn’t work) nor did just the web address .. “aweber/….” For me only the “http://……” worked.

3 – I found that when the link placed in the s2member side bar widget was invalid – the software (WP or s2) automatically created a link to a 404 page. Again just FYI.

Thanks for the help – Cristian and Raam – us “novices” appreciate the help / direction

What link was that? Could you show us a page with the widget so I check out the link you mention and the 404? Thanks!
