I am using a child theme and I tried to place the s2-hacks.php in the following directory> /wp-content/themes/twentyeleven-child/wp-content/mu-plugins/s2-hacks.php

However, this did not work and the functions had no effect. The reason for doing this is to avoid the s2-hacks.php from being blow away with the next big WP update.

Should I even be concerned? Is the /mu-plugins/ safe with an update or is there a way to keep the file in the child directory and I am just not putting it in the right place.

Thank you for your input.
