My site was developed in a backwards manner, in that I originally created a subfolder on my domain called “wordpresstest” and saved all my test files there. For some reason, I was impatient enough at the time that once I’d created a site that worked in wordpress, I just went ahead and made it the live site. I installed s2member after that, and my site and databases went live and became populated with data.

Now, my site path looks like: website.com/wordpresstest/…etc. In wordpress I corrected the path so it’s website.com/whateverpage/, but the image paths and such all go to wordpresstest. That just feels amateur to me, and I’d like to change it. IF I change that at the wordpress level, what will happen to s2member? Will it loose track of everything?

Hi Shawn.

It would probably be similar to changing the domain name, I guess. You’d need to make sure you update everything in the database and settings so the new address is used.

Also, your payment gateway will have the current IPN urls for the subscribers, so that may be a problem to get notifications from it if your installation is not there anymore. You could try a forward, but I’m not sure if that’d work…

If I remember correctly, you’re using ccBill, right? I’ll ask Jason about it and let you know.

Hi Cristián – yes it’s CCBill. I’d appreciate that, thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on this thread.

It won’t be a major issue. All you need to do is update the settings for WordPress (URLs to the site under Settings -> General) maybe tweak things in the database just like you would for any WP installation being moved. See: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#When_Your_Domain_Name_or_URLs_Change

The only thing you need to with s2Member is to run back through the integration you did with ccBill. The approval/denial and background post URLs for ccBill should be updated to reflect the new location of the WordPress/s2Member installation that you’re running.

Thanks, Jason. I’m going to give that a try.
