HI,

I am developing a site for a client. I understand that I need to purchase a single license to allow multiple free levels.

However, I need to purchase to test and develop the site. Fine. But, as far as I can see, you are suggesting that I have to get my client to purchase the license for use on their site?

So does that Mean I need one license to develop the site and see if I am happy, then talk my client through another purchase?

Seems crazy, especially as I really don’t want to explain why I do or don’t need stuff. I just want to buy it, make it work, invoice my client, full stop.

Hello Paddy,

If both the development version and the live version of the website are of the same owner (same website/person) then you can buy only 1 license, use it in the development version, and when it’s ready use it on the real live website.

Just make sure to change your client’s profile field that’s called “Main domain”. And one last thing, make sure to buy it at your client’s name.

Does that answer your question? Or did I make it too confusing?

Thanks Eduan,

so I can put it in my client’s name? It just needs to be assigned to my client?

That’s right, as long as it’s only used on your client’s website.

Hi Paddy.

The license should be under your client’s name, since it’ll be his. But you can develop the site using it, you don’t need another one under your name to work on his site. A single site license is enough if your client will only use s2Member in one site, the development one doesn’t count.

Does that answer your question? :)

Yes to you both. Thanks a lot. Going to give it a go.
