I have “testing” disabled, however I noticed that in Paypal Pro, I can still sign up with a fake credit card on this list:

http://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/vhelp/paypalmanager_help/credit_card_numbers.htm

Is there a way to disable payments with these cards?

After some additional testing, it seems that any test credti card can work as long as I am running a free trial. One way that I noticed I can fix this is to set the trial to charge .01 cent, then Paypal actually does the check. Shouldn’t paypal be doing this on their own when you send the initial post, I assume they charge the user 1 cent, however they end up refunding them. The way I am doing it I am forcing the 1 cent, but it’s not an automatic refund since I would have to refund that 1 cent to users myself.

Yeah, PayPal should be doing that check, in my opinion, but in all honesty, they don’t do everything they should be doing or they way it should be done in my opinion.

I understand there’s a trial, but the card will be charged eventually, they should check that right then so a new card can be asked for if the first one is not good, not let the guy have the trial to then find out he shouldn’t get access.

It’s similar with card expirations, they don’t warn the customer when the card on file expired, they wait until the next payment fails and they tell s2Member the payment didn’t happen, but they don’t tell the user to update the card on file with a new one.

I think you should ask PayPal if there’s something you can do, other than the 1 cent charge for the initial term, which is what I’d have done, but maybe they have another tip for that situation.
