Hi,

I originally posted this in the community forum, but now that I have paid for the support, I’m moving this topic here.

I am having a problem with registrations. For the last two new users, they were able to sign up through PayPal, but when they were finished, S2Member didn’t send them a registration email, nor did it send a copy to me. When I look in the paypal-ipn.log file, I see the transaction, and at the end it says, “Duplicate IPN. Already processed. This IPN will be ignored.” But I looked through the log files, and this is not a duplicate user or duplicate transaction, which is what normally would cause this issue. The user is not in the list of users, and I have verified that they haven’t finished the registration.

I have tried creating a new button on the signup page. I thought that S2member creates a new IPN track id each time the PayPal button is used, but it looks like this is not working currently? I noticed that the ipn_track_id is the same value for the last 2 users who signed up in the paypal-ipn.log file. Any suggestions where I should look to fix this problem?

I have attached a copy of the ipn log file to aid in the diagnosis of the problem.

Hi Tim.

Yeah, the ipn_track_id, subscr_id, and payer_id are the same in both entries. And they have the same time too (2 seconds difference). It does look like a duplicate IPN.

I’ll ask Jason about it and let you know when I hear back form him.

Keep an eye on it and let me know if it keeps happening to your users or if it was just that case, please.

I’ve looked through your log file entries, and I find some very confusing scenarios where s2Member is lead to believe that transient data entries exist for IPNs that are brand new, and have never been processed before. This is not the expected and/or normal behavior.

Upon further investigation, I am lead to believe that there might be a plugin conflict that exists on your installation, related to one of the following.

1. A caching plugin, which has object caching enabled (and perhaps not behaving properly).
2. Or, another plugin which modifies the built-in behavior of the WordPress get_transient() and/or set_transient() functions.

I would suggest that you disable any plugins that you believe might be related to the above (at least temporarily), and see if the problem goes away. If problems persist, please submit a list of all of the plugins that you are currently running together with s2Member. Tim,

I’ll send Jason a message to see if he can take a look at your site, but it’s hard for us to diagnose problems that may be caused by 3rd party plugins, which is why disabling *all* the plugins is the only course of action in scenarios like this.
