Hello

I’ve read this thread (http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/name-address-fields-making-them-required) but there is no solution proposed.

My issue :

– configuration of the New User Email Message :

%%user_id%% – %%user_first_name%% – %%user_last_name%% – %%user_login%% – ADHÉSION

– email New User received :

21 – – – pablito – ADHÉSION

Also in the email notification to the admin :

User ID: 21 (OK)
Username: pablito (OK)
Firstname : (EMPTY !)
Lastname : (EMPTY !)
Email: xxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com (OK)
IP Address: xx.xxx.xxx.xxx (OK)

The firstname and lastname values are empty !

Where is the lack ?

Thank you muchas to reply :)

Thank you for reporting this important issue.

I just tested this in a development environment and it appears to be working fine in my tests. Could you post a screenshot of the New User Registration box? Also, are you receiving nothing (or an empty value) in this email, or are you getting back the replacement code?

Posted: Saturday Apr 27th, 2013 at 1:25 pm #48578

I gess you mean “New user email message” ?

Here is the screenshoot :
I’ve replaced the %%user_first_name%% and %%user_last_name%% by %%user_login%%

Login is OK, but first_name and last_name are empty in the email that the user receive.
But first and last name are present in the profil form !!!

I changed your New User Email temporarily to have the first name, last name, and full name included in the email. This is what I received:

Afin de devenir membre, merci d’effectuer le versement de 30€ sur le compte
26 – s2test – ********** – Bruce – C. – Bruce C.

It appears to be working just fine.

Hi Bruce.

You’re (a) superman :)

I test :)

Thanks

EDIT : Have you tried on the prod (www) ? I test a new inscription on the production and first / last name are always missing :(

“Bonjour (empty) (empty),
Merci pour (…)”

Hi Bruce,

I’m sorry, but on staging and on prod, it doesn’t work.

1) go to the registration page (not the wordpress registration form!) and fill the form
2) you receive a confirmation message for your registration => fisrt / last names are always empty

even with your modifications !? Why it works for you an not for me ????

Thanks a lot.

EDIT :

– If I use the classic register page “http://staging.xxxxxxxx/wp-login.php?action=register” it works ! The email contains first and last name. But there’s no captcha on this form !?
– If I use the register form in the Page created with the shortcode to add the “free registration form” in it, it doesn’t work ! But first name and last name are correctly recorded in the “public name” in the user Dashboard…

You can test on the staging, because I’ve deactivate the regitration form Page on the prod and I use the wordpress registration form for the moment on the prod :( .

I need your help :) Thanks !

That’s interesting. I didn’t look while I was in your Dashboard, do you have any plugins that filter bad queries, or that cache objects? It sounds like this part of s2Member’s form is not coming back to your site for some reason.

Yes exactly !

I’ve W3 total cache. It’s perhaps the issue ?

But … if it’s a cache problem, why the values are also empties in the emails confirmations ?

If you test, can you test only in the staging ?

Thanks a lot Bruce !

It would be empty in the email confirmation because s2Member never received the information from the User. If what I’m thinking is correct s2Member never actually sets the first/last name in the User’s profile.

W3 Total Cache does have an Object Cache. Would you like me to see if deactivating the plugin fixes the issue?

I don’t think so, because at the begining ti worked.

Would you like me to see if deactivating the plugin fixes the issue?

Okay, i’ll try.

Thanks

EDIT : No, the deactivation don’t fixe the issue…

Okay, thanks for the information. I’ll need to check out your registration logs and see if I can find where the information is being logged is it okay if I take another look at your Dashboard?

Hi Bruce,

Thanks a lot !

Thanks for your patience.

You had logging disabled. I enabled it for you here:

Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Log Files (Debug) -› Logging Configuration

Could you do a test signup so we can see what comes up?

Hi Bruce,

1) I’ve updated my plugin (+pro)
2) I’ve made a new registration (http://staging.xxxxxxxxxxxx.be/affiliation/) => first and last name are empty in the email confirmation.

Thanks for your help !

Posted: Monday May 13th, 2013 at 11:49 pm #49902

I just did a test registration and got the New User email with the first and last names. Seems like you fixed the problem with something you changed. :)

By the way, database caching is also known to cause trouble. Thought I’d let you know because you have it enabled.

Hello Cristian,

Thanks for your test.

– I’m sorry, but I can’t find your regsitration on the staging (http://staging.xxxxxxx.be)
– I’ve tested the staging => I don’t have my first and last name in the email confirmation !
– The database cache is deactivated.
– Have you the the staging ?
– Have you test with the WP registration form (it works, the issue is not here) or the registration page with the shortcode (http://staging.xxxxxxx.be/affiliation) => It doesn’t work and the issue is here

Here is the email received… and no first and last name. And if I go to the profil modification => no first and last name.

I registered from the pro-form in your affiliation page. Here’s the email I got:

Bonjour Cristian Lavaque,

But I was logged in to the admin account when I did that test, so I just tried it logged out and I did get the problem you’re reporting.

I couldn’t reproduce it in my test site, so it seems to be unique to your installation. Have you tried these? Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips

Hello Cristian,
