I have set up S2Member, I will be offering to my customers free membership and also paid membership.

Now is my logic correct for how your system works, …….on the Membership Option Page I have 2 Icons/buttons one for paid services and the other icon is for free membership.

Do I link the free icon with …… http://www.mind2driveacademy.com/wp-login.php?freeaction=register….. then do they receive their login details ??

If not what is the process thanks.

Hi Greg.

For the registration form, you’d link to http://www.mind2driveacademy.com/wp-login.php?action=register and it’ll be free if you have Open Registrations enabled. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Open Registration[/hilite]

You can also use a free registration pro-form in a page/post. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Free Registration Forms[/hilite]

I hope that helps. :)

1) The registration part is all good but no login details are sent to the new member.

2) I tried the Pro registration works like a dream and login details are delivered to the new member. But I wont be able to use this on level 1 ( is thinking correct ?) because I don’t use Paypal Pro I use PayPal website payments.

That takes us back to option 1.

Any ideas why there are no login details being forwarded after registration process?

Thanks,

Greg

You can use the Pro Forms, even if you don’t have PayPal Pro. See: Pre Sale FAQs » To use s2Member® Pro Forms, will I have to use PayPal® Pro?

Please help as previous message, why aren’t any emails being sent to new members with their new login details? This is in regard to using the registration form (not pro form). Why is it in pro form it sends out login details no problems but not in the registration form method?

Thanks,

Greg.

So the regular registration form doesn’t have the New User email sent, but the pro-form does? Or does the pro-form have the Signup Confirmation email but not the New User one?

[hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Email Configuration -> New User[/hilite]
[hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Signup Confirmation Email[/hilite]

Could you past here the body of the email you do receive when using the pro-form?

Are you sure that the New User email isn’t going to the spam folder?

Below is the email sent after registration using Pro Form, but if I don’t use Pro form and use
free registration only there is no email like this sent with login details.

That’s the New User email.

Have you tried the tests in this article yet? I’d start with the ones for plugin conflicts. Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips

Please submit a Dashboard login for me to review. It sounds to me like your PayPal IPN Integration is not yet completed, or is failing for some reason. Logging needs to be enabled on your installation as well, so you can track what’s really going on here.

Please see: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Account Details -› Logging
Please use: s2Member® » Private Contact Form

Thank you. Details received.

Can you please paste your s2Member Shortcode here for review as well? Or just double-check it please. It appears from your log files that your Shortcode does NOT contain a custom="" attribute, because the IPN log indicates it is missing during post-processing of a transaction, which would explain why emails are not being received either. You should have custom="www.yourdomain.com" in every s2Member Shortcode please.

I am not sure which short codes you would like, so I have attached a couple anyway. Just let us know either way!

Just if it helps I have received today an email from Paypal………

Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notification (IPN) messages. Messages sent to the following URL(s) are not being received:

http://www.mind2driveacademy.com/?s2member_paypal_notify=1

If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information.

Once you or your service provider fix this problem, you or your service provider can resend the failed messages from the IPN History page. If this problem continues, PayPal may disable the IPN feature for your account.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the follow-up :-)

I just ran a search through all of your Posts/Pages for an s2Member payment button shortcode, but all I came up with was a shortcode for free registration. I was unable to locate this shortcode you posted.

[s2Member-PayPal-Button level="1" ccaps="" desc="Parent2Teen Membership / Description and pricing details here." ps="paypal" lc="" cc="USD" dg="0" ns="1" custom="www.mind2driveacademy.com" ta="0" tp="0" tt="D" ra="0.01" rp="1" rt="M" rr="1" rrt="" rra="1" image="default" output="button" /]

Have you integrated your shortcode on another site perhaps, or is it integrated by your theme? Somehow the shortcode that people are using to checkout with, does not include the custom="www.mind2driveacademy.com" attribute as expected, so I need to find the source of that shortcode to see what might be happening. Your log files indicate that it WAS included at some point, but that changed later, and then s2Member stopped functioning properly in response to this.

Please advise. Thanks!

This is the page it is on …

http://www.mind2driveacademy.com/membership-options/

The buy button is at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for your reply :-)

OK. The PayPal button on that page is a hosted PayPal button stored at PayPal.com. You will need to log into your PayPal account and be sure the custom value has been defined. Or, you can generate a shortcode with s2Member to correct this problem.

See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Membership Level # Buttons
Or see this KB article: http://www.s2member.com/kb/using-paypal-created-buttons/

Please let us know if problems persist :-)

By using the S2 button creator it works fine, also tried other method inserting custom code into button creator at paypal but it didn’t work, so I will stick to the S2 creator as it works fine.

This works fine being a registered free subscriber, but can you set it up so if a person wants to bypass free registration and go straight to the purchase button on the membership options page they can without previously being registered at all?

Also can you modify the page( you see after purchase) that says “go back and login”? or link to another welcome page?

Thanks for your assistance.

I’m not sure I completely understand. I think what you’re asking is if it’s possible for a public visitor (not logged-in at all yet), to pay through a PayPal Button. If so, then yes. A customer does not need to be logged in before purchase. By default, a customer goes to PayPal to complete checkout, and upon returning from checkout, they will be granted permission to register for an account at your site.

Also can you modify the page( you see after purchase) that says “go back and login”? or link to another welcome page?

With s2Member® Pro installed, yes.
You can use the success="http://..." Shortcode Attribute.
See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Shortcode Attributes (Explained)
This is the easiest way (recommended). Create a Page yourself, and specify its URL in this Shortcode Attribute.

Or, you may create a custom template of your own. Please see:
Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayPal® PDT Integration
In this section, click the “Auto-Return Page Template ( optional customizations )” link for full details.

Thanks for the follow-up :-)

As the documentation states, the success="" attribute is for NEW paying customers. If a Free Subscriber (who already has an account with you), pays you for something, this is considered a modification by s2Member®, and the success="" attribute is not applicable to this scenario.

However, s2Member provides a Filter for this scenario. So if you want to control the redirection URL after a modification takes place, please use the following instructions.

Please create this directory and file:
/wp-content/mu-plugins/s2-hacks.php
(NOTE: these are MUST USE plugins, see: http://codex.wordpress.org/Must_Use_Plugins)
(See also: http://www.s2member.com/kb/hacking-s2member/)

Please let us know if problems persist :-)
