Receiving this strange error:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden) http://clubcollegelife.com/wp-content/plugins/s2member/s2member-o.php?ws_plugin__s2member_js_w_globals=1&qcABC=1
Uncaught TypeError: Object # has no method ‘on’

Condition:

Website: http://clubcollegelife.com/magazine

I use the desktop brower and resize it to a small window until the main menu minimizes and changes to read ‘Go to …’ and this error prevents the pulldown menu from working. I am using the WATSON Theme and everything else is working fine. This is preventing my mobile users from using the web site.

Thank you for reporting this important issue.

It sounds to me like this is a problem with your permissions on the s2member-o.php file. This file’s permissions should be set to 0775. Could you verify that this is the case via FTP?

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the permissions and the are set to 0775.

Got it. Thanks for the info.

I’m taking a look at what else might be the cause now. I’ll get back to you as soon as I have more info.

Thanks for your patience.

Right now when I pull up the URL you provided I’m getting the error:

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Based on some research I’ve done it appears that this has to do with Apache rewrites or permissions. Do you mind if we take a look at your site? You can send Dashboard + FTP login details privately here:

s2Member® » Private Contact Form

Let us know when you’ve done that. Thanks!

Another bit of information.

This happens any time you try to load anything nested in your /wp-content/ directory, which leads me to believe this is likely a result of something you have set up outside of WordPress, like a .htaccess file within your /wp-content/ folder that’s denying access to anything in the directory.

I will setup an FTP account for you.

Thanks!

I actually just did a bit of poking around from what I can do now, and I noticed that your site is redirecting from your domain (http://clubcollegelife.com/) to http://clubcollegelife.com/magazine/ when I try to access it directly.

If you use this as a root, and try to access this URL, it works fine:

http://clubcollegelife.com/magazine/wp-content/plugins/s2member/s2member-o.php?ws_plugin__s2member_js_w_globals=1&qcABC=1

Try changing your Site URL in your Dashboard to http://clubcollegelife.com/magazine/, since you’re redirecting to that subdirectory:

Dashboard -› Settings -› General

Bruce,

I just sent the info for the FTP. Check the port number as I put in 27 but I was guessing at the number. I know the site uses the standard FTP port whatever that maybe.

I checked the Site URL in Dashboard and it is set to http://clubcollgelife.com/magazine as the WP was built in that directory from scratch.

Thanks, I’m checking this out now.

Thanks for your patience.

I took a look at your site’s source code. It looks like everything with s2Member is running smoothly to me. You’re (at least now) linking to the correct file for s2Member’s JavaScript. I do see one error, though. It’s related to the file gprofiles.js

It says:

Uncaught TypeError: Object #<Object> has no method 'on'

I’m not sure where this is coming from, but it shouldn’t have any effect on s2Member. Do you have any specific place where this occurs?

I never actually see an error message pop up. The only thing that happens is the pull down menu just does not work when you resize the web browser to a small size to get the “Goto…” Menu. Click on it and no pull down menu shows.

Sorry about the delay in response.

I’m not seeing any “goto” menu on your site. I’m not sure why s2Member would be affecting this, though. I would try contacting your theme’s developer if you’re having a problem with things not working when you resize your screen.

Bruce,

I started with the Theme Developer and we tracked the issue to S2Member within an hour. I explained twice how to find the menu with “Goto…” on it but here is a picture to help you see it. Again, re-size your web browser by grabbing the lower right corner and moving it toward the upper left corner so that the browser window becomes smaller. Keep going until the menu changes. You should be able to achieve something close to the picture I provided.

Thanks for your patience over the weekend.

Sorry about the delay in response.

I see what you’re talking about now. However I have no idea how s2Member could possibly be affecting your theme’s behavior for this.

That being said if you’re having trouble with this, try turning off s2Member’s CSS and see if that helps:

http://www.s2member.com/faqs/#s2-faqs-stop-loading-css

Otherwise I’m not sure what you could do. s2Member is not overwriting any of your JavaScript and I’m not seeing any errors pop up when you click that Goto.. button.

This is apparently an incompatibility between s2Member and your theme, which we can’t debug according to our Support Policy. See: s2Member® » Support Policy

I’m sorry for the frustration. I was just under the impression that this was a problem directly related to your first first post’s explanation of this problem:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden) http://clubcollegelife.com/wp-content/plugins/s2member/s2member-o.php?ws_plugin__s2member_js_w_globals=1&qcABC=1

This is actually a totally different problem than you first described. I did not understand the problem until your post here, which is actually describing a totally different issue:

I never actually see an error message pop up. The only thing that happens is the pull down menu just does not work when you resize the web browser to a small size to get the “Goto…” Menu. Click on it and no pull down menu shows.
