Hi All,

I’m a pro subscriber and I’m creating a project site where I have 3 levels of membership, public, user & admins – nobody pays, membership is by invitation only.

I have a couple of hundred people to invite, I have their details prepared in the import “xyz” format using an excel sheet that I’ll save as a comma delineated csv file.

When I register the users, I’d like the system to generate the password and send them an email with their new user/pass combination however I’m unsure if it does that. It seems like an obvious feature but if I understand correctly I think that it’s not possible??

I’ve checked old and new forums but I wanted to confirm if I need to manually trigger/send several hundred registration emails from individual user accounts or if the system can handle that automatically as might be reasonably expected

Thanks

Paul

Ok so now I’m even more confused – I submitted a couple of test users by CSV which went well. s2member generated the password.

If the system doesn’t alert the user and I can’t see the password I’m at a loss how I communicate the access details to the user without recreating the passwords myself…

I’m clearly missing something but I can’t see an obvious path.

Your help would be appreciated, thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

The recommended method for getting around this problem is to send an email to your imported members informing them that they must reset their password by visiting /wp-login.php?action=lostpassword. From there, they can submit their username and receive a special link to create a new password.
