I have done my best to read the documentation regarding updates and imports.

– I started by exporting my users using the S2Member export.
– i removed custom columns and other s2fields I didn’t want to interfere with
– I then updated 5 or 6 different s2member fields for many of my users
– I saved the file as a csv and tried importing it.*

I get messages saying that administrators were ‘skipped’. However none of my users have the updated data

I am not sure what I am missing.

*Saving from excel 2010 (Macintosh) will not put quotes (“) around the fields to help delimit them. I create a macro which exports my spreadsheet as a text file with quotes and commas. This could be the issue, but I doubt it.

The values need to be double quoted, and separated by commas. If Excel won’t do it, then try OpenOffice’s Calc, I haven’t had a problem with it.

Also, if that is not enough to fix the problem, try not removing columns. See also: http://www.s2member.com/kb/importing-updating-users/

Thanks for the reply.

I will try again – not removing columns this time.

I will let you know what happens.

Thanks Cristián,

Excel and dropping columns was the problem. When I would open the exported .csv in excel it would mangle it and I was hooped from the get-go.

Using OpenOffice produce great results. If I may may a suggestion? Could you make a note on the documentation that Excel 2011 for Mac does not work as an option for editing/generating .csv files for s2Member?

Thanks so much for your help. All good now.

Thanks for the update! I’m very glad you got it working. :)

And thanks for the suggestion. I don’t know if we can say Excel won’t work, but we do say we recommend using OpenOffice in the Export tool: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Import/Export -› User/Member Exportation[/hilite].
