EDIT—-Before this question is moved — I need more than 4 levels of membership and this functionality, that’s why I am asking in pre-sales questions and not in the community forum… The answer to this q will determine if I buy the PRO version or not for now — If any moderator still determines that this question goes somewhere else then move it but could you please be so kind answering?

Hi I have been reading the documentation on s2Member and have used it (FREE version) in very simple sites… I am creating a website where I would like to sell annual membership but I am also going to sell some products NOT included in the membership, like conferences. I would like for people that buy a ticket to my conferences, I currently have around 10 different ones, to be able to access the conference materials download page with pdfs, video, etc..

What I would like to know is if someone that buys a ticket to conference A they can access an account where they have the link to the download page of conference A, now if they decide to buy the ticket to conference C they will see in their account a list of both links conference A and conference C,, and so on…

What I mean is if every time they buy a product they will see their list of products increased or do they need to create an account for each product

I saw this thread but it really didn’t answer my question…

Thanks

HI Gabriel, I am not a mod but i have been using S2M since about two years. What you are describing is very similar to how i am using it on my site. I am not sure you actually need that many levels. In fact, since Levels are incremential, you might not want to use them. For example, a member at level 2 will, by default, be able to access everything at level 2, level 1 and level 0.

What you are describing would be better done with Custom Capabilities (ccaps). You can use ccaps and conditional shortcodes for just about everything. You can have a ccap for EventA, one for EventB, one for EventC and one member can purchase a single event, or a combo of 2 or 3. You can also have ccaps for various courses, or membership “packages”.

On my site i have 1 membership package (monthly payment) and several classes. Each class is associated with a ccap, and the membership also has its ccap. ONe member can have the membership and 3 classes, another one can have 6 classes and no membership, etc.

Check out the video on ccaps.
Also, those ccaps are available with the free version. You would not NEED the pro version to use that feature.

Thanks for your inquiry. ~ We appreciate your patience :-)

I agree that Custom Capabilities would be best for this. Initially you can just sell them Membership Level Access. Once they become a Member you have three choices about how you sell them additional access.

1. You can sell them Custom Capabilities (a supplement to their existing membership).

2. Or you can bypass the need for Custom Capabilities and just sell them Specific Post/Page Access (a supplement to their existing membership). This is an added layer of functionality. It does not require Membership, but if they are already a Member, that’s fine too.

See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Specific Post/Page (Buy Now) Buttons

3. You can allow them to upgrade their existing Membership plan through a Billing Modification Button or Pro Form. This wipes out their existing plan and replaces it with something new entirely. Perhaps with a higher Membership Level.
