Membership by product instead of Levels

Hi guys,

I’m currently looking to make the switch to a membership software from aMember. I want to users to have certain memberships based on the products they bought. These are digital products.

So if a user buys product a, he will have access to the download of product a as well as extra content on the site. I want to be able to do this with as many products as I want. Is this possible with s2Member? If yes, what are the features I am looking for in the free or paid version?

Yes, this is certainly possible with s2Member. You would need to make use of the Custom Capabilities feature.

The free version of s2Member uses the WordPress Registration system, which means everybody signs up in the same place no matter what (/wp-login.php?action=register).

If you’re selling multiple products, you probably want to create a separate form for each product (pre-configured to give access to the additional content through Custom Capabilities) and probably embed each form on the sales page for each product. For that you would need to use the Pro-Forms feature, which is only available with s2Member Pro.

I do have one more question though: is there a money-back-guarantee or trial period for testing or something like that? I have bought so much software in the past that has turned out to be problematic with customization, theme-integration or functionality. Though I have never made use of a money-back-guarantee before, I’m somewhat cautious. I hope that makes sense.

s2Member Pro is an add-on to the s2Member Framework, so I do recommend fully testing the Framework before purchasing s2Member Pro. With the Framework, you have access to Custom Capabilities and all the various restriction options, so you should be able to get started that way. If you require the s2Member Pro-Forms, you’ll need to purchase s2Member Pro.
