Hello everyone,

Thanks in advance for any insight into this question. I’m really loving s2member.

My site is http://myfishingcapecod.com

Today I noticed a few of my new customers who should have gained Level 1 paid access after registering, appeared as only subscribers.

I did a few test runs and was able to replicate the issue. The only thing that has changed this week is that I began using Max CDN content delivery network. I sort of doubt that’s the problem but figured I would mention it.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Thanks for any words of wisdom,

Ryan

Any ideas on this one?

I had another person sign up as a Level 1 Member last night, but unfortunately granted only subscriber access.

I’ll keep working on a fix on my own and will be sure to post the fix if I find one. Again any insight is much appreciated.

Take care,

Ryan

After trying a lot of things I have figured this one out. Looks like you need to be cognizant of your W3 Cache settings if you plan on using that plugin with s2member.

If you encounter the same issue as I, and you are using W3, try disabling “Database Caching” – that solved the problem for me.

A better alternative would probably be to just use Quick Cache instead of W3.

Thanks,

Ryan

Thank you for reporting this important issue. We are very sorry for the delay in reponse.

Thank you for the information. W3 Total Cache is a very popular plugin. I will have our developers test this in controlled installations and see if they can recreate the issue as well. If so we will need to take this as a bug.

Thank-you.

No worries on the delay Bruce. Whenever possible I prefer to figure stuff out on my own anyways. Good for my self confidence.

Have a great day!

I am having the same issue. Deactivated W3 Total Cache – will see if this fixes the problem for me as well.

Yep, that did it. There appears to be a conflict between s2Member and W3 Total Cache.

You can use W3 Total Cache if you want to, as long as you don’t enable object or database caching, which are the ones that usually cause trouble. :)

Jino, thanks for the log entries.

Does your browser accept cookies? Are you using the registration link in the Signup Confirmation email?

Do you have Open Registration enabled? Try disabling it and testing again, I’d like to confirm that you’re registering only because you have the s2Member cookie or using the special registration link when you have that role problem. Yes, my browser accepts cookies and I am using the registering link on the signup confirmation email ..

I get the message registration is not allowed when I disable the open registration ..

Thanks …

If you’re using the link from the email, you shouldn’t be told registrations are closed. There’s something wrong, and that’d explain why with Open Registrations the users end up at Level 0, since the s2Member info in the cookie/link is not used.
