So I know you can set up members area to allow for access OR have a buy it now for specific posts/pages. My web page will be a series of live streaming videos. I would like to have an unlimited access and a pay per episode option.

I originally thought that I could have the membership option for the unlimited access then use the “specific post/page access restriction” option under “restriction options” to allow purchasing individual episodes. I thought this would work great till I read… “if you configure s2Member, in such as a way, that a Post/Page requires Membership Level Access, you cannot sell that same Post/Page through Specific Post/Page Access. Doing so, would create a conflict. Customers that purchased Specific Post/Page Access, would be unable to access the Post/Page – without also having a Membership. Not good. So please be careful.”

My only other thought would be to create duplicate pages having one set up for members and one for pay per episode. The problem with this is that it would be time consuming and from my understanding it will also hurt my SEO.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would like to have members be able to access to all pages and non members to be able to purchase access to individual pages.

Hello James,

I can see why youo would use this process. However the only way to do it is by using duplicate pages like you proposed.

Really it would be much more effective if you make your users require registration before buying access to something. You would of course use custom capabilities (ccaps for short) in order for each page/post to be individual from each other.

My two cents, drop this idea and instead make it require only membership, it doesn’t make sense to offer both, unless the content were different.

Hmmm…I’m surprised there’s not a way to do this, although I do understand if it’s just too complicated to offer as an option. Do any membership plugins provide this feature?

It seems like allowing a post to be available to members and only available as a one-off to non-members would be a popular need.

Isn’t there a way to just make all single-post restricted content available to all paid members?

I’m afraid there isn’t. :/

You see, currently, if you restrict a post with a level 1 for example, even if he has specific post/page access to it, it wouldn’t work, because the user has to be a level 1 as well.

Same the other way around, if the page/post is protected with specific post/page access, then even if the user is a level 1 user, he wouldn’t be able to access it, because he also needs the specific post page access. :/

Also, I’m not familiar with any other membership software besides s2Member, so I can’t really give you any advice for them.
