Hi,

New user here.
Just setting up my first site with s2Member.
I am selling a newsletter service on ClickBank.
It will only have 1 level.
I have it set up so the customer is subscribed to a list (my newsletter – the product) on Aweber once a successful purchase is made.

I have completed a successful purchase through the test gateway at CB.
I was redirected properly.
I received my receipt email from CB.
I was able to ‘register’ with s2Member.
I received my emails from s2Member with my UN & PW.
I was able to log in as my ‘test’ customer.

However…

I was not added to my list at Aweber.
I have configured the custom s2Member email parser. I followed it exactly off the site here.
I ‘think’ I tested it successfully as well. Didn’t get any error messages when sent.

I thought I should go to the default PayPal email parser for PayPal
When I went to go to the default parser of PayPal, it now wants you to log into your PayPal account. Since I am not using Paypal and am using CB as my merchant processor, is this still needed?

The videos are a little ‘lite’ in this area and I can’t figure what’s wrong. OR I’m just missing something?

Also, I decided to use the wp-cron feature. I know this is not as reliable as a cPanel cron, but again, the instructions on setting up a cron seemed ‘lite’ to me. I only saw to add an http address to the cron. I have set up many crons before and the code in the command line (using cPanel) was a lot different than just an http address.

1) Did I just miss something on setting up the cron? Is there a step by step for setting one up in the cPanel?

2) Are there any more instructions on setting up a cron in cPanel to work with s2Member more efficiently?

3) is using the custom email parser not a good idea? is there anywhere to copy and paste the text in the fields of the custom email parser to make sure I did it correctly?

4) should I log into my Paypal account to engage the Paypal email parser and just go that route even though I am using CB as my merchant?

5) also – does the user ‘have’ to register for the site after a successful completion? I assumed the system sent out an automatic email with their UN & PW and redirected them to the login screen. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the help. (not my first time here – and the help has been great!)

Greg

Hi Greg.

Did you receive the Signup Confirmation email too? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Signup Confirmation Email[/hilite]

If you didn’t, it’s likely that there was a problem. This would explain him not being added to the AWeber list. What is your test customer’s level in his profile?

When I went to go to the default parser of PayPal, it now wants you to log into your PayPal account. Since I am not using Paypal and am using CB as my merchant processor, is this still needed?

You need to use the custom parser for s2Member. Knowledge Base » AWeber email parser for s2Member

Also, I decided to use the wp-cron feature.

Do you mean for the EOT behavior? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Automatic EOT Behavior[/hilite]

5) also – does the user ‘have’ to register for the site after a successful completion? I assumed the system sent out an automatic email with their UN & PW and redirected them to the login screen. Am I wrong?

Yeah, he needs an account in your site. Paying through ClickBank doesn’t automatically create the WP account for him.

The email with the user/pass can be edited if you want to, but he will get that after registering the account. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Email Configuration -> New User[/hilite]

I hope that helps. :)

Thanks for the follow up –

No, I didn’t get that email. I got several others, but not that one. It’s all filled out, I’m not sure why it didn’t fire. I got other emails that were sent from my server.

New Test customer = s2Member Level 1

(I only have one level of membership and I did set it up on level 1)

You need to use the custom parser for s2Member. Knowledge Base » AWeber email parser for s2Member

I did. I believe I copied it exactly as on the link you provided. Hard to tell about the spacing of some of the characters, but I copied the test, put it through the testing area Aweber provides and it all came through like the pictures and seems to be fine.

Do you mean for the EOT behavior? Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Automatic EOT Behavior

Yes.

Yeah, he needs an account in your site. Paying through ClickBank doesn’t automatically create the WP account for him.

I figured. When testing (NOT logged in as admin at the same time) I can do this. Make a successful purchase, then create an account with s2Member and log in.

I am not getting the one email from the system to direct me.
I am not getting placed on Aweber list.

The email with the user/pass can be edited if you want to, but he will get that after registering the account. Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Email Configuration -> New User

The emails I set up in this section are coming through.

I hope that helps. :)

It does. Thanks again. :)

Hmmmm,

Would one of the issues I am having have to do with the ‘Read’ access I have allowed at CB for s2Member.

When I log into my account at CB and go to:

Account Settings>My Account>Clerk API Keys…

Here are the choices to tick off:
Orders/Tickets Read:
Orders/Tickets Write:
Analytics API:
Products API:
Notifications API:

What should I be ticking off?

I know the docs say to allow read access. I have that one ticked and it isn’t sending the confirmation email from s2Member and not placing the buyer on the Aweber list.

Should I also be giving the Notifications API access?

Thanks.

Please make sure you have logging enabled, do a new test purchase, and check the logs (all, including the PayPal ones) for the entries related to that transaction. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Account Details -› Logging[/hilite]

Paste the entries here, x’ing out any private info like email address, please. That may help us find what the problem is.

Thanks!

Thanks. :)

I’d like to see the entries for the logs that have PayPal in the name, too, please.

By the way, are you making sure that you aren’t logged in when you load the page with the CB button for the test.

YES, quite sure I am NOT logged in as an admin.

Thanks again.

UPDATE:

I ran another test:

I made sure I was not the administrator.
I used a different browser.
I used a different email.
This time it did not complete the transaction on the s2Member side.
It made the ClickBank purchase.
I didn’t get any ‘system generated’ emails, and of course still, the customer email did not make it to Aweber.
The site would also NOT let me register as a user (of course since s2Member never recorded the sale).

Here is a zip of the latest logs: I’ve also included a screenshot of MY email parser setup in Aweber.
http:// xxxxxxxx/s2memberlogs.zip

IS this a possible wp-cron issue?

I seem to be getting the ClickBank sale with no issues and the accounts set up in s2Member, it just isn’t connecting to Aweber.

Is it the parser set up I used (screenshot included in the zip with the logs) correct?

What about some instruction on using the cPanel Cron feature. I could set that up rather than rely on wp-cron. I would just need to copy and paste it exactly form somewhere with a little instruction.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the logs.

From then, I see that signups do mention the signup confirmation email being sent. The entries that don’t mention that are the ones where an existing account was upgraded, or where you were logged in to the admin account.

If you want me to, I can try a test purchase and see how it goes. I’d need you to send me access to the site, as well as a newly generated test card from ClickBank to purchase. Ah, and the URL to the page where you have the button to purchase. s2Member® » Private Contact Form

Thanks for the email.

I did the test purchase and everything went fine. I checked out and got the email from ClickBank.

I also got the Signup Confirmation email from s2Member, although it went to the Spam box, so you may want to customize the email a bit to make it more unique to avoid triggering flags in the spam filters. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Signup Confirmation Email[/hilite]

The email marketing services usually have a tool that lets you check the email you plan to send to see how it ranks to prevent getting it marked as spam.

Then I registered the account and that went fine too. I think I did get the proper paid level, although I couldn’t confirm it because when I tried logging in to the admin account you sent, I couldn’t because of “invalid username”.

I didn’t get a zip file attached to the email, so I couldn’t see the screenshot you mentioned. I did see in the aweber-api.log file an entry for me after the registration and it looks okay. So it looks like this is being sent to AWeber successfully. If the user is not added, then it’s possibly a problem with the parser. Knowledge Base » AWeber email parser for s2Member

I’d like to see the screenshot to review it. If you post it to a page in your site and give me the URL, I could see it there. Just tell me the permalink to it, I already have the domain name.

Ah, have you read this article? Knowledge Base » Debugging the AWeber integration

By the way, you left the domain name (at least once) in the logs you pasted above earlier. Thought I’d let you know in case you want to remove it.

Hi,

LOL…

I did have the zip in the above comment.

Here is the URL for it: http://youknowthesitename.com/s2memberlogs.zip

This is also some questions from the above comment I was hoping you could answer please:

IS this a possible wp-cron issue?

I seem to be getting the ClickBank sale with no issues and the accounts set up in s2Member, it just isn’t connecting to Aweber.

Is it the parser set up I used (screenshot included in the zip with the logs) correct?

What about some instruction on using the cPanel Cron feature. I could set that up rather than rely on wp-cron. I would just need to copy and paste it exactly form somewhere with a little instruction.

I have also gone in and corrected the admin user account I set up for you to test with. Apparently I did not save the password correctly.
It is corrected and the UN and PW I gave you works, I have tested it.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the screenshot. The only difference I noticed in yours, is that for rules 2, 3 and 4 you have [hilite mono].+?[/hilite] instead of [hilite mono].*?[/hilite].

Could you fix that and test again? Thanks. :)

I see what you mean.

I corrected the custom parser and ran another test purchase with CB.

All went well, except:

I received the email form s2Member sending them to the registration page. It did go to the spam folder. I made adjustments to it as well, so I am not sure why.

I was able to create an account (because I redirect everyone to an instructional page on how to do it).
I was able to log into the members area.

Unfortunately, still nothing in the Aweber list. I even went to the site a few more times, even using other browsers trying to trigger the wp-cron.

I downloaded all the logs again and put them in the same spot for you to look at. (same zip and location as before)

The instructions now just mention sending a cron to a URL. Are there any more details anywhere?

I don’t think it’s a cron issue. The email to AWeber is being sent, as strong>aweber-api.log shows.

Do you have the Email Log plugin? You can use it to confirm if the email to AWeber was sent. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/email-log/ Try it and let me know if the email is going out, please.

Also send yourself a copy of it as explained in this article, and then try what you get there in the AWeber parser to make sure it works, please. Knowledge Base » Debugging the AWeber integration

By the way, that log shows the removal header to have the email address incorrect, it has an extra “.com” at the end.

I installed that plugin.

By the way, that log shows the removal header to have the email address incorrect, it has an extra “.com” at the end.

I fixed that and saved it.

I ran 2 more test purchases.

This time was different. I got less emails from the site. Now s2Member didn’t create any accounts or allow the test purchaser to create an account.

The test purchase through ClickBank was successful. I did receive those emails from CB confirming the test purchase.

Still no connection to Aweber.

You still have the login to the site.
I uploaded the latest log files in the same zip in the same location.

I also reset the test c/c. The following test c/c info is good until 10/02/2012 08:51 AM PDT.
Here is the test c/c info: 2222229847960583 EXP: 09/2014 CVC: 709

I left your original test purchase in there so if you do another test purchase, either delete yourself or use another test email account please. (You already knew that, though :) )

Thanks again for the continued help.

I really feel we are SOOOO close to solving this!!

Sorry I couldn’t look at this again yesterday. I’ll do a new test purchase now…

The purchase went without a problem and I could register and login fine. I didn’t get a confirmation email from AWeber, though. Pretty much the same as my first test the other day.

I couldn’t check the logs because the FTP login didn’t work for me this time, got this:

Response:	530 Login authentication failed
Error:	Critical error
Error:	Could not connect to server

The WP admin login didn’t work either: “invalid username”, so I couldn’t check there either.

What did the Email Log say about the email to AWeber to add the user? Did it get sent? Did you receive a copy using the hack I told you about?

Hi.

I am not sure why you couldn’t log in. I just tested the WP login and they work fine.
[…]

The log shows it going to Aweber, and to myself.

However, still no emails placed on the list at Aweber.

I just placed a test on the 2nd offer (first exit pop).
Everything went through. I got all the required emails. Including the registration email from s2Member!
I was able to create an account, log in.
Again, nothing in Aweber.

I also just test purchased the third exit pop offer of the trial.
I was able to successfully make the trial purchase on CB.
I received those emails form CB.
I did not get any of the other emails from s2Member.
I was not able to register or log in.
Of course nothing on Aweber.

I am beginning to lose faith.

Thanks. The admin login you had sent by email was different than the one you just gave me. I was now able to login.

I see in the email log that the email to AWeber is going out.

Did you verify that you wrote the list name exactly as it is in your AWeber account? [hilite mono]stmnews[/hilite]. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / List Servers -› AWeber®[/hilite]

And did you test having the opt-in checkbox in the registration form? Would like to know if the user is sent the AWeber confirmation email if you do that. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / List Servers -› Registration Double Opt-In Box[/hilite]

Yes, I have verified the Aweber list name was correct. Actually out of frustration, several times.

I did not have the opt in checkbox option checked.
I activated that option it and just ran a few test purchases.

It is working less now. It defaults to the s2Member thank-you page. (terrible)
It does not allow me to register. So the account in s2Mmember is never created.

Actually, looking at the email logs in the site admin area…
it appears to have only tried once (out of all of my tests) to go ahead and contact Aweber.

That is so weird. Well, leave the checkbox out for now then.

I’m emailing Jason to take a look at this, I don’t know what else try suggest right now. :P

Thanks.

Please forward all the login information, test c/c info to him as well.
Also please provide him with the download link so he can also verify the latest logs and the Aweber custom parser setup.
(.com/s2memberlogs.zip)

You both have permission to change settings in the site and s2Member to run tests.

I am hoping we can resolve this. Without the functionality all working, I can’t effectively use the script for what I purchased it for.

Thanks for your efforts. They are GREATLY appreciated.

Please pass to Jason that you and I have been working diligently on this for a week now.

I am being patient and wanting to resolve this, but the time frame is hurting me financially. I’m a little frustrated because what isn’t working are features that come ‘stock’ with the plugin and I’m not trying to adapt the script to do something that wasn’t intended.

I know you understand. Thanks again! I appreciate your patience.

I’m looking forward to working with Jason. :)

Posted: Tuesday Oct 2nd, 2012 at 11:03 pm #27288

I forwarded everything to him.

Yeah, I understand. I’m sorry we haven’t found the problem yet.

The problem you had with the checkbox was definitely unusual, I don’t know if it has to do with a plugin conflict or what, but Jason will probably try to reproduce that to see if there’s something in s2Member that needs fixing. It’s the first time we had it reported.

Without the checkbox, everything seems to be working correctly, even the s2Member part that sends the email to AWeber to add the user. What I don’t understand is why AWeber is not adding the user. Would it be possible that you give us access to the AWeber account for a bit, to take a look there? I’ll reply to your first email so you can reply back to it with that if you want to.

I responded to the email with the Aweber access.

**Please Note**

I have created a new test c/c fro CB (time was about to run out on the other – you get like 22 hours with each one then they expire)

Here is the test c/c info: 2222225273674854 EXP: 09/2013 CVC: 345
The test credit card can only be used on the ClickBank order form to test the entire order process of your products until 10/04/2012 05:15 PM PDT

Thanks again.

Greg, good news! Another user shared a solution for his AWeber problem similar to yours. We weren’t aware of it, that’s why I had not suggested it, but now I updated the knowledgebase article and am letting you know about it to try it. http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/aweber-integration-problem-resolved/

I hope that does the trick! :)

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

The only part of the process that does work is the test purchase from ClickBank. I (the vendor) get the success email. The buyer also gets their receipt.

Followed the instructions on the thread. Now I have complete failure and no test purchase will go through. All attempts are reading that the purchase is associated with an Admin.

NO, I am not logged in while testing. I even had my wife test from another computer. Same response.

So I have NO idea if the Aweber workaround did work.

Test Credit Card Number: 2222222783895111
Card Expiration Date: 09/2013
Card Validation Code: 352
NOTE: The test credit card can only be used on the ClickBank order form to test the entire order process of your products until 10/12/2012 09:40 AM PDT

Your test account and all info is still the same.

Please help…

I’m really at my wits end. The product is approved and ready for sale and I am really taking a financial hit as the s2Member is just not working correctly with the basic ‘out-of-the-box’ features.
You and I have been working on this for some time with a lot of patience on both sides.
What really is the next step?
Is there a possible solution? Is it going to take another week or more? I know these are questions you really can’t answer, but I’m sure you can appreciate the frustration. I really am working the program here and attempting to make this work for me and it just isn’t.

Thanks,

Greg
