I’m new on WordPress so maybe I won’t even be needing your product but if so, I’m happy to purchase it. But maybe some if my questions are on WordPress level?
I thought I’d be able to find some of my answers but I didn’t (lousy Googler?).

I’ll be making a new website in WordPress for a small non-profit organization.
They want members to be able to log in with their e-mail address to be able to see some specific content and downloads but even to be able to see other members and their information as address, phone number etc.

1- Is it possible for members to see each others information?
2- If so, is it possible for the admin to state what info is available for others (and perhaps hide some info for individual members only as some don’t want to show their address for everybody but the staff)
3- Is it possible for members to search for other members in a specific city or whether they have children for example?
4- It will be a member administration as well so some hidden info should be able to be added per user. Is this possible?
5- can admin make their own fields? For example if the member has children, what year they are born (useful for the activities)

Thanks for your answer in advance!

Hi Lidali,

What you’re describing sounds a lot like a Directory site, not a membership site.

s2Member is a membership plugin that handles restricting access to specific WordPress content (i.e., WordPress posts, pages, and downloadable files) and provides the functionality necessary for selling memberships and one-time access to specific posts/pages (on which you can offer digital downloads).

s2Member has a Custom Registration/Profile Fields feature that allows you to create a number of extra fields for each user and present those fields at the time of purchase on the Pro-Forms, however there are no features for making a list of users publicly available or for restricting specific user profile field visibility to other users.

I recommend watching a few of the video tutorials to get a better idea how the s2Member software works. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

There you go… I’m clearly too new for this.
I’ve been browsing some Directory plugins but they don’t seem to fit in clearly to what I want or don’t seem to have such a support as you do.

I’ve been looking at some of the video’s and a bit more on your site. This system I want to have/build doesn’t have to be very complex for the members and members don’t need to be able to change very much.
As I’m a programmer (and doing most stuff myself hence the lack of WordPress experience), would it be possible to code these searches for my members my self you think? The idea is to maybe in the future let people pay their membership through the website as well as everything is done manually today so then s2member would be a great resource.

To start with s2member would be a great help for our memberadministrator to have all the members in the system and to be able to get them out nicely (into an excel-sheet?) as they get a magazine 4x a year mailed by regular post (oh yes!).

Thanks for your reply!

Hi Lidali,

It would certainly be possible for you to code your own WordPress user listing. You’ll need to take a look at the WordPress Codex and I suggest posting on wordpress.stackexchange.com or the WordPress.org Support Forums for help with the coding. Good luck! :)
