Hi – I am designing a new site for a client who has around 900 members. They are currently using what I consider, a very antiquated membership “system”. They receive membership via a paypal form I set up on their old site (they have a PayPal business acc’t but not the Pro version). Once they receive membership, they hand input all of the user info into Microsoft Access. When they want to get info about all the people in a specific state they run a query in Access and export to Microsoft Excel. They have to look every month to see whether any members are up for renewal. So, I suggested S2 pro version (to import all of the existing members). They wanted to know if they can have the same type of “sorting” or queries based on lets say all the members in a county or all of the members in a particular school district, etc. I have been looking through S2 and know that you can add custom fields in the registration process, but is it possible to do what I am talking about in the default users panel in wordpress, or is there a way to view and sort in S2, OR is there another plugin which would add this functionality and work with S2.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Lisa,

s2Member currently utilizes the WordPress user base and listing functionality. Unfortunately, the WordPress user list is quite limited in terms of sorting features. At present, it’s not possible to sort users by Custom Field or do advanced queries like you described. There may be other 3rd-party WordPress plugins that enhance the user list functionality and provide and query interface, however they may or may not work with s2Member.

In the next major release of s2Member, we’re hoping to improve this aspect of the software.

Hi Raam –
Thanks for your reply! I have one other quick question…
any idea if “Members List Plugin 3.6.3” is compatible with S2? How would I find out if you don’t know? Would that be something where I would just have to install both plugins and try to add members, etc and see if things aren’t buggy? Also, any idea about the next major release date?? I am pushing my client towards the S2 because I think it is the best solution for them, but they are used to doing things a certain way. I think sorting (for them) is key.
thanks again.

Hi Lisa,

Yes, the best way to test the plugin compatibility will be to install both plugins and then see if there are any conflicts.

We don’t currently have a release date set for the next major release, but we’re hard at work on it — hopefully within the next month we’ll be able to make an announcement.
