Pro forms paypal express stopped working

My site suddenly stopped accepting paypal payments. Users are still able to pay w/ a credit card but when using their paypal account they are redirected back to the form page. The account is not charged and user is not created.

From paypal tech support:

When I tested the checkout and I was redirected to PayPal, selected my funding source and I was successfully redirected back to your site. At this point your website should have an option to submit the payment. It look like this is what is missing.

That actually doesn’t make sense. Once you’re sent to PayPal, you do not get returned to your site until the payment has been completed on PayPal’s side. It wouldn’t make sense to go to PayPal, then back to your site, then back to PayPal again.

I just tested your signup using PayPal. I filled out the registration form on your site, selected PayPal, clicked “Checkout with PayPal”, was redirected to PayPal’s website, logged into my PayPal account, and got to the point where I could click “Pay Now”. (I didn’t click “Pay Now”, but I would’ve expected that once payment was made, I’d get transferred back to your site. To get transferred back to your site after payment is made is normal behavior.)

Are you seeing something different?

When I click pay at that point I get redirected back to the page with the s2 form (https://susanireland.com/readymaderesumes/online-resume-builder-professional-templates/?s2-ssl=yes). The payment is not taken from my paypal account, I am not registered as a new member and I am not sent to the success= url.

I do notice the url in my browser upon return is appended with &s2-ssl=yes&s2member_paypal_xco=s2member_pro_paypal_checkout_return&token=EC-44Yxxxxxxxxxxx&PayerID=XTZFxxxxxxxxx

I have this resolved. The description field in the shortcode was using a space. I added a description then used display:none; to hide it on site.
