Pro Update Not Working

Once again I was forced to ftp s2member-pro to site, but it is not being ‘seen’ by system. This is extremely troublesome for me cause this obviously takes the site offline. How do I address having someone resolve this?

Deleted folder, ftp’d a second time, now it works. So ignore posting. Where can I read/learn more about how frequent these mandatory updates work and how/when it stops working? Thanks
