I am using S2Member Pro on my wordpress site that has a simple-press forum. Everything worked very well and members were able to login and logout both on the wordpress site and forum.

Simple-press has limited functionality and a few quirky problems so I have switched to IP Board. I have used their converters to transfer all the data and members from the simple-press forum. It was succesful but as soon as members try to log in to the new forum their passwords are not recognised. I have spoken with IP Board support who informed me The IP.Board converters are set up to use the default wordpress password hashing method but the encryption techniques do not appear to match.

Is this the case and is it possible to rectify this? If not I can ask members to reset their passwords but I now have another issue, when members are logged into the wordpress website and click on the link to the new forum there is a database error. If they log out of the the wordpress site and click the link it works perfectly and takes them to the new forum. Is this error something to do with S2Member?

Austin.

s2Member isn’t the one that handles the session, so I doubt it’s s2Member.

Maybe it has to do with www use inconsistency? Knowledge Base » Don't mix www and without

Hi Christian,

Turns out the database error was indeed nothing to do with S2Member.

But I would like to know if S2Member does anything with the default password hashing in WordPress?

Austin.

Thanks for the update. Glad you found the problem. :)

No, s2Member doesn’t touch that.

That is correct, s2Member does NOT alter the existing WordPress hash generator in any way.

Perhaps the passwords were corrupted during the forum conversion process.

I am having to get all members to reset their passwords in the new forum. Worpress/S2member continues to work fine.

Thanks for your help guys.

Austin
