Hi,

So, I am developing a membership site. I would like to use either s2membership or Fusebill. Fusebill costs 50/month plus .4 per transaction while s2membership is free.

Why is that? How is Fusebill batter? And why do people use those expensive services when you have a cheap one right here?

I am developing on wordpress. A honest answer would be much appreciated.

Hi Luke,

It looks like Fusebill is a service that offers a hosted solution. s2Member, on the other hand, is a WordPress plugin that allows you the flexibility of customizing your solution as you see fit.

The free version of our plugin is very powerful and the paid version allows additional features such as accepting payments on-site using PayPal’s Pro service. We integrate closely with PayPal and other payment gateways and give you the flexibility to choose what makes the most sense for you, whereas Fusebill seems to handle and choose all of that for you in return for a recurring fee.

If you would like control over the software and lots of flexibility of choice, s2Member would be the way to go.

Hello Luke,

Here is my opinion on it:
They just don’t know about s2Member, in my opinion, people that don’t use s2Member either don’t know about it, or they’re set on the idea theirs is better.

I mean, s2Member has a lot of power in the free version, and even more power in the pro version, only for those that need it or want it, even though it’s a pro version, it’s very cheap, you only pay a small amount once (compared to the monthly payments).

That is my opinion, another good thing about s2Member, is that the code is under the GNU GPL v2.0 license, as WordPress, so you can edit the code for it to work with your hacks (as long as it complies with the license).

So it’s really flexible, powerful, cheap, and it has great support, through these forums, so you will get support from users that want to answer, and from the support reps, as long as you have the pro version or have a presale question, in other words, the support reps will come along with the pro version. :)

Hope this helps you decide. ;)

Thank you for both of your replies. I think I’ll go with s2membership. It is very cheap, ad I’ll upgrade to pro if successful.

My main concern, however, is security. However, looking here it appears that most people are happy. s2membership is also easier to use, and I have already integrated it into my site. Thank you all!
