Hi there,

I still can’t install s2Member successfully. Apart from the major problems in my last post which I still haven’t received an answer to (Please can you address this) I use the user search facility. When I try to search, I get…

Are the two problems connected? Please help!

Hello Paul,

Where did you try to make the search? Your website?

Also, what error does it give you when you try to install s2Member?

Maybe I phrased that badly. s2Member appears to install correctly, but it is causing the problem with the user search available from within the WP dashboard. If I disable s2Member, the search facility works normally. If I activate s2Member I have the problem. Any ideas?

Hi Paul.

I haven’t seen that problem happen, so it seems specific to your installation. The only thing that comes to mind is another plugin causing a conflict there with s2Member.

You can run this test: leave s2Member active and deactivating the other plugins one by one, trying to reproduce the problem after each until it goes away, then the last one you deactivated would be the one conflicting.

I hope that helps. :)

Hi Cristian,

I have done as you suggested. I disabled all plugins. The user search facility worked. I activated s2Member. It didn’t work. I deactivated s2Member. The search facility worked. I reactivated all plugins apart from s2Member. The search facility worked. I reactivated s2Member with all other plugins activated. It stopped working.

What do I do now?

So you tried having just s2Member, with no other plugin active, and the search didn’t work?

How many users do you have? Is the site live?

Yes, I tried the search with NO plugins activated. It worked. I tried it with ONLY s2Member activated. It didn’t work. I tried it will ALL plugins activated apart from s2Member. It didn’t work. I have sent you my login details.

I am having a connected issue. A member tied to log in but received the message…

503: Service Temporarily Unavailable
Too many IP addresses accessing one secure area!
Please contact Support if you need assistance.

I am constantly looking at my Google Analytics Real Time view and other users seem to be having a problem logging on too. I know that I can reset IP restrictions for individual members, but I can’t get to their records because I can’t use the search facility.

Is something fundementally flawed with my installation of s2Member?

You can reset the restriction for all users from [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Unique IP Access Restrictions[/hilite]. And you can also raise the IPs limit so they’ll be less likely to have the problem again. I’m guessing that those users have their IPs change frequently, or access the account from many machines.

Got your email. Thanks for the info, Paul.

I searched the users and saw the error you mentioned in the forum. I wonder if it has to do with a memory limit problem. You have almost 6000 thousand registered users.

I uploaded to your server a script Jason created to check server details, and it suggests to raise the memory limit for WordPress. I’ll send you by email the link to it.

Try raising the limit and check if that helps with the users search problem, please.

Hi Christian,

My site was hosted on a shared server with just 32mb memory. Because it was a shared server, the memory was fixed. I’ve moved the site to a “cloud” server where I have been able to increase the memory to 256mb. The memory increase has cured the problem with the user search facility and, as far as I can tell, cured the problem with error messages when users tried to log in.

All I need to do now is to monetise the site properly so that I can afford the new increased hosting charges.

Thank you very much for your help.

Paul

I’m glad that did the trick, Paul. Thanks for the update! :)
