I am trying to figure out how to allow a subscriber to click a button, indicating that they have taken an action (created a professional biography post), and then be automatically upgraded to a higher membership level so that they are no longer directed to the page which asks them to submit the bio when they sign in.

I need this to happen WITHOUT effecting their subscription. They are moved up a level, which will change the page that they are directed to upon log in, but their current subscription (in terms of recurring payments) does not change in any way, and they are not asked to enter payment information again.

Is this possible?

I understand that subscriptions are not changed if a level is changed manually, but ideally this can be an automated process.

By the way – ideally at the time of this upgrade, they would also get the same capabilities as an “author” so that they can create, publish, and edit their own posts.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The only way to accomplish what you’re looking to do would be to use the information in this article to upgrade Users through PHP:

Knowledge Base » Changing Roles/Capabilities via PHP

By the way – ideally at the time of this upgrade, they would also get the same capabilities as an “author” so that they can create, publish, and edit their own posts.

If you want to add capabilities to s2Member’s roles, try using the Capability Manger plugin. Many of our Users have used this in the past for similar reasons:

If you decide to edit roles, you’ll need to know this too: Knowledge Base » Locking s2Member Roles/Capabilities
