I read through the following forums with the same error :
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/customer-cant-pay-using-paypal/
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/urgent-error-36-transaction-failed/#post-22378

I am running a subscription website that has been live for 2 weeks and am processing credit / debit cards just fine, however, when it comes to Paypal Express Checkout I am receiving an error #36.

I tried to ask the tech support to kindly “upgrade the version of the API they’re using on my specific PayPal account.” Yet, he had no clue what i was talking about.

I then disabled my Payflow settings in s2member dashboard and received an “Error #11586. DPRP is disabled. DPRP is disabled for this merchant.” However, the Paypal express checkout did go through, just no credit cards.

I am at quite a frustrated loss regarding what to do next and can’t seem to find the answer in any of your past forum posts regarding this error.

How do i get Paypal Pro and Payflow to work seamlessly together?

Thank you in advance for your help.

How do i get Paypal Pro and Payflow to work seamlessly together?

I’d just like to mention this, in case there’s a misunderstanding: PayFlow Pro is not supported by s2Member Pro. s2Member Pro supports PayPal Pro, which can may be using the PayPal Pro API or the PayFlow API. The latter version is called PayPal Pro PayFlow Edition. Knowledge Base » PayPal® Services / A Quick Comparison

Make sure that you have PayPal Pro, not PayFlow Pro. Then verify if you have the PayFlow Edition and, if so, enter the PayFlow credentials in your s2Member integration. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayFlow™ Account Details[/hilite]

If you’re selling a subscription and receiving payments on your site, then you’ll need to upgrade your PayPal Pro account with the DPRP service. I think DPRP stands for “direct payment recurring payment”. Check with PayPal that you have this.

Paypal is telling me that this problem will be solved by switching my account to “Website Payments Pro”
(Paypal Integration w/ Recurring payments)

Here’s an email that I received today :

” I pulled up your account information and my records are showing that you have already recently signed up for the recurring billing product within PayPal Manager. If this recurring billing product isn’t supported by your website/shopping cart that would mean you are in need of the “old” system. The only way to get that old system is to create a new account and call our sales team and personally request it.

Most systems can integrate to both but there are a few out there that were unwilling to update with the API changes that were made in the past year or so. Unfortunately, since that is an older platform the only way you can get it is by creating a new account and having an agent connect you directly rather than applying online.

This is a discontinued product but it is possible to get that setup. Give the sales team a call at your earliest convenience and we will start this ball rolling.”

I was transferred at least 8 times today before anyone figured out that i needed an account with DPRP, even though that’s what i kept telling each person that i spoke with. I just want to make sure that this is indeed what i need since no one has any idea what they are talking about over at Paypal.

It’s quite frustrating indeed.

Thank you for your help with this.

Yes, PayPal can be quite frustrating sometimes…

This is a discontinued product but it is possible to get that setup.

I don’t know why they say PayPal Pro is a discontinued product. s2Member does support the current version of PayPal Pro, that’s not the problem. PayPal Pro with the PayPal Pro API or the PayFlow API are supported. So if you have PayPal Pro, that works with s2Member. With or without the DPRP feature it is supported. Of course, to sell subscriptions from your site you’ll need DPRP.

Paypal is telling me that this problem will be solved by switching my account to “Website Payments Pro”

If they’re telling you that you could switch to PayPal Pro, I’m guessing then that that’s not what you have… Maybe you have PayFlow Pro, but that’s not a service supported by s2Member. s2Member Pro supports the PayFlow API edition of PayPal Pro, but it’s PayPal Pro, not PayFlow Pro. I’m sorry that the names are confusing, I wish they had named their services differently.

Could you please confirm whether you have PayFlow Pro or PayPal Pro? That may be were the problem is.

Yes, i can confirm that i have payflow pro.

So, what you’re saying that i need is “Paypal Pro” ?
Or whatever the service is that has DPRP? Just ask for
that, correct?

They make everything really confusing and their tech support
certainly doesn’t help the case by not knowing the product names /
what they are even talking about.

Thank you for your continued help in this battle.

I see. Thank you for confirming it.

I know, they really do make it confusing. :/

Yes, you need PayPal Pro instead.
