Hi, working with S2Member and have a separate folder I want to protect called ‘php’.

I added a URI Restriction to the root /php/ and tried even my files within there. I can still access the root and the specific files even after I’ve done this.

Hopefully I’ve configured this properly, it seems pretty basic. Essentially http://www.mysite.com/php where wordpress is installed in the root of http://www.mysite.com.

I also tried stating the full URL without luck. Am I missing something here? Do you NEED to use that Buddy Press software for this function to work? Thanks.

I also already tried removing the trialing slash:

/php/
/php
mysite.com/php/
mysite.com/php

Hi Michael,

s2Member is a WordPress plugin, so only URIs created by WordPress (or by other plugins that load within WordPress, such as BuddyPress) can be restricted using the URI Restrictions. If you create a new folder on your server, WordPress doesn’t know about that new folder and so s2Member cannot protect it unless you first load the WordPress framework.

Please see Protecting Non-WordPress Content with s2Member.

Thats what I was afraid of. Trying to launch a PHP app that uses includes is a pain to try and get working with all the PHP plugins. I appreciate you clarifying that for me.

No problem. I’m happy that I was able to clarify things. :)
