I figured it out! It was a browser issue with how Chrome holds it’s cache. First, I tried in Firefox successfully!!! Then, I totally cleared Chrome’s cache and was able to register and activate.

Now, I’m having trouble with the site asking even logged in users for the activation key (which it actually doesn’t care about — but it will confuse users). But that’s another issue. Thanks so much for all your help!

Best,
Greg

I turned off Super Cache, Wordfence Security and also Tiger Technologies Plugin (which is also security related). I just tried another transaction, but no luck. I checked my error logs, but there haven’t been any errors in the last few days (except spam bots trying to access a page which doesn’t exist).

What’s the next step?

And would it be worth considering the Pro version? Doesn’t it allow the customer to pay and set up their profile without leaving the site?

Best,
Greg

The IPN gives a blank screen (which is normal, I think). http://www.greenzonetalk.com/site2/?s2member_paypal_notify=1

Paypal sent me a notice saying that the IPNs were failing:

Hello Gregory Heffron,

Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). IPNs sent to the following URL(s) are failing:

http://www.greenzonetalk.com/site2/?s2member_paypal_notify=1

They disabled IPNs for awhile, but I reenabled them a few days ago. I just did a test transaction — no luck. I get the “Thank you! (you MUST check your email before proceeding).” screen, but no email ever comes…

Thanks Bruce!

The URLs for “Wordpress Address” and “Site Address” are both set to http://www.greenzonetalk.com/site2. This is where my install of WordPress is located on my server.

I could possibly move the install if needed to the root, but it’s always a little bit of a hassle, so I’ve avoided it so far. What do you think?

Best,
Greg

Thanks for getting back to me!

I passed every test except:

“WordPress® Memory Limit” and “WordPress® Home/Site URLs.”

But both of these are “optional.” Do you think either would affect my IPNs being received properly?

Thanks,
Greg

Checking back on this. I’m holding off launching my online community until I can be sure s2Member will work. I’m happy to purchase the Pro version if it will help. But I want to be sure it will work, and I can’t find anything in your documentation or on forums about this. Should my system be sending out emails after paypal registration (as the landing page says it should)? If so, do those emails allow new registrations to set up their accounts? (at the correct level)

Thanks so much,
Greg
