Hello Douglas,

For him sending you the check, you have to figure it out yourself, you could probably just use PayPal for this.

To create the user you just go under WP Dashboard -> Users -> New User.

Hope this helps. :)

OK, I can see you did not understand my question. I will try again.

After my customer failed at paying for my services with paypal, he called me and we agreed that he could send me a check.

I tried to create and enter a new customer using the ADD NEW USER section of s2Member. SINCE I COULD NOT FIND ANY INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO DO THIS, I guessed at what must be put there.

I obviously guessed wrong, because my customer could not watch my videos on my web site, even though it would let him log in.

I NEED DETAILED INFO ON HOW TO MANUALLY ENTER A NEW CUSTOMER.

THIS IS VERY V E R Y I M P O R T A N T!

Hello Douglas,

I tried to create and enter a new customer using the ADD NEW USER section of s2Member. SINCE I COULD NOT FIND ANY INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO DO THIS, I guessed at what must be put there.

I’m sorry, thought this would be easier, basically it’s asking you the info any user must have, or can have. At the s2Member section of the member info, give him the ccaps or the access that he needs in order to access that video.

Also, if you correctly created the user, and yet he doesn’t have access to the video, then I would make sure the post has the correct protections.

Hope this helps. :)

What are ccaps?

Can you direct me to instructions for entering a member manually?

No one else is having trouble seeing a video; so I do not think this has anything to do with correct protections.

Thanks,

Doug

I obviously guessed wrong, because my customer can not watch my videos on my web site, even though it would let him log in. I have also created a Media user to give to people from the media to review my web site. I can login and access the video using this user name and password, but my customer can not see the videos logging in with this user ID.
These 2 things are particularly important

I need to know if you have any suggestions why this user can not see my videos after logging in. I suggested he try another browser. He is using a one year old laptop, with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer.

I NEED DETAILED INFO ON HOW TO MANUALLY ENTER A NEW CUSTOMER. What to put in each field, what fields are important, what allows access and what stops it.

Hi Douglas,

What level of s2Member access is required to access the video? If you restricted the video to Level 2 access, for example, then you must make sure the user’s Membership Level is set to Level 2 or higher (you can choose the membership level when adding a new user, or when editing their account).

When adding an account manually (when, for example, the user pays for the membership offline), these notes may be helpful: Pre Sale FAQs » Can I create new Membership accounts manually with s2Member?. (Most of that info applies to scenarios where you want to manually add a user who has already paid you using PayPal or another payment gateway and where you want to manually add their payment information and Subscriber ID so that s2Member can handle cancellations, payment failures, etc., automatically.)

Again, if your member is unable to access the video, then that would indicate they don’t have permission. The most basic level of permission s2Member can apply is that of a specific Level (e.g., Level 1 – 4). There are additional types of restrictions, Custom Capabilities (aka ‘ccaps’) for example, that can be used as well. If you have required users to have a specific Custom Capability to access your video, then you’ll need to add that Custom Capability to the users account in the Custom Capabilities field.
