Can I remove the s2branding from the member sign in form? And if so how?

It just seems totally inappropriate to have it there. Members are signing in to my particular site and to suddenly be confronted with something that screams s2member can be highly confusing to new members.

Sure you can (it is recommanded too!). Go to General Options > Login/Registration Design and there you can customize the look of the Login/registration page with the color, font, and header of your choice.
