Yes they can. In fact the role shows up in the “s2member level 1” category in the “Users” page. I just thought it was weird that the role was named subscriber. Everything seems to work though.

s2member seems to always redirect users to the page you have set as your “membership options” page. However, if you go to “API / Scripting > Membership Options Page / Variables in” s2member, you will read that you can make use of something called MOP(Membership Option Page) variables, which in short, you can use to tell s2member what the user was trying to access when they were redirected to the membership options page. Based on those variables, you can will need to use PHP conditional tags to include the s2member login form(pro version only). This will require PHP skills though…

I haven’t used the variables yet, but if you try to access your content without being logged in, take a look at your address bar and notice how there are a lot of extra parameters there. That’s s2member giving you info about what you tried to access. If I said anything wrong, someone pleas correct me. I am a newb too :)

I have no idea why, but I deactivated all plugins and reactivated them and now it works. Sorry I can’t provide any useful info for anyone else seeing this.

Hey Bruce. Thanks for the quick reply. If I log out, I can access the page and there is no redirect, however, as I mentioned before the page is rendered without any of the BuddyPress profile fields.

I have been modifying PHP files having to do with the buddypress profile and how the fileds are displayed(when viewing someone’s profile) but nothing else. As far as changing the buddypress page, no I did not change anything. After this happened I tried creating a new registration page, but the same problem occurred.

If I deactivate s2member, then this problem goes away.

I see, so I just simply ignore the item number field in PayPal and it will not be linked to s2member? If so, then yes that helps. Thanks guys!

One question though. How does the “Unregistered User” play a part in this? It seems like you have to enter the “item_id” for the PayPal button, which corresponds to the s2member membership level. But what if I want the purchase to be relevant to a “visitor”, aka, someone with no membership levels?
