nice. so now I see that I can actually redirect the user straight to my premium content. I use the paypal-button-generated access URL as the SUCCESS parameter and that would direct users from paypal’s confirmation page straight to the content they purchased. brilliant.
in a world where very click counts, this is nice…

thanks again.

thanks again, eduan. and so I did ask customer support forum and there are 3 options:

– Edit the default thank-you page’s template. Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayPal® PDT / Auto-Return -> Auto-Return Page Template (available with s2Member Pro)

– Use PHP to generate an access link in the custom thank-you page you point to in success.

– Just have a message in the custom thank-you page, saying that he should check his inbox for an email with the access link. Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Specific Post/Page Confirmation Email

Thank you very much!
The last option is indeed my current solution.

But how do I use PHP to create the access link? Is that information part of the codex?

yes!

I’m selling access to a page with PayPal Specific Post/Page (Buy Now) Buttons. I use the short code now with the SUCCESS parameter. it works, except the last step:

1. user clicks on the BUY NOW button and gets redirected to PayPal. CHECK
2. user enters payment info on paypal and makes the purchase. CHECK
3. PayPal displays a payment confirmation page which re-directs automatically back to my site. CHECK
4. by default, there’s an ugly grey s2member template that confirms the payment again and includes a button to access the content.

since I’m using the SUCCESS parameter, the page in step 4. is now my custom “thank you” page. but there’s no download link for the user!! Sure, the user also gets a confirmation email with a download link. but I was hoping to be able to use my custom “thank you” page AND include the download link.

hope that makes sense.

thanks

right. thanks.

if you read my complete post above, the SUCCESS attribute works now.
but on my custom ‘thank you’ page there is no access link. so, really, all i wanted was two things:

1) a custom ‘thank you’ page (ACCOMPLISHED)
2) a link to the sp_access_url (NOT WORKING)

thanks agaom

sorry, I’m afraid I’m lost now… (I already brought this up in the customer support forum so maybe I’ll find some other help there). I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT, EDUAN. but now I just don’t know where to add template and why?

I AM a developer and I can figure things out… just hoping to save me some hours of figuring out… and the instructions don’t make it very clear: all I want is a custom ‘THANK YOU’ page that the user sees when they get re-directed from PayPal. (via a standard paypal button for a specific page/post access link).

instead, the user sees this ugly default page which has the access link.

and that access link is all I want on my custom thank you page.
thanks to your pointing me into the direction, I was able to change add the “success” parameter to the paypal button short code so now the user DOES get redirected to the right page… just no access link on there!!

thanks again.

that doesn’t seem to work well for standard paypal buttons. I mean, the re-direct works but none of the parameters are being read by my template. basically, what you see here: http://dustyseco.com/thank-you-episode-order/
is what you see when you purchase an item. (yes, I’ve got custom fonts there).

so, again, “success” attribute works but the %%sp_access_url%% doesn’t calculate.

which makes utter sense… I just don’t know how I can show the access url on my custom thank you page.
please advise.

hi there.
I just upgraded to the Pro version for specifically this reason. I wanted to customize the page that the users lands on after clicking the “return to [mywebsite.com]” on the paypal payment confirmation page (i’m using the standard paypal option)

trouble is that page also had a link to access the specific page/post that I’m selling. so how can I include a link to the just purchased item on my custom template?

thanks

this looks more like a scam than the only option.

where is that template and how can we customize that?

so, before I had time to further consider Eduan’s idea, I found out that EasyRotator allows me to pick images from within the Media Library for a specific post/page. I figured that might solve the issue but then I realize that even images related to a protected post/page are not protected.

after all this time I’ve spent with s2member, I just didn’t realize that one could access an image related to a protected post (here is a sample image that was uploaded for a specific and protected page: http://dustyseco.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/DustySecoWebEpisode2_75.png and this is that specific page – which you cannot access: http://dustyseco.com/episode-2/ )

hmmm.

I like that idea. thanks a lot. going to try and work with that.

maybe food for future thought: give admins the option to REQUIRE level 0 (free) membership and tie the single post/page purchase to that member account.

downside is that users are required to register (many sites do that) but at least it’s free.
upside is that the link is tied to their membership account so that can be revoked.

also, I wouldn’t mind allowing paid membership levels to be an option even for specific posts/pages. I understand the current logic which prevents that but I wouldn’t mind up-selling specific posts/pages on top of paid memberships.

thanks.

It would be nice, though, to allow level 0 memberships which could then give buyers of specific posts/pages the ability to retrieve the link(s) to their purchases from their “membership options” page.

also, it might make it possible to associate the link to their membership only. as it stands, buyers of specific posts/pages can just forward the link to anyone, right?

thank you. I will do that.

thanks raam
that sounds like the perfect “work around”.

and just one more pre-sale confirmation: it’s possible to create custom post-types while using s2member, right?
