Oh weird, now when I go to buy recurring billing, the setup fee is only ~$40 with ~$30 monthly fee. http://postimage.org/gallery/9wzcjv6s/

So Dave, you bought recurring billing (you said click “buy”)? It’s like almost $300 up front after setup fees? I thought Payflow Pro was not necessary? I think my issue is just that I was trying to dev local, so need to get this on a live server to test.

It looks like I can’t block subdomains. But maybe I can make a menu item with URI which redirects to the external site which I can block? Or can I block certain external links from being clicked on in my site? Working as intended, they would click the links and be directed to a membership signup unless they were members in which case they would be forwarded along without issue. If the user is logged into my site and a member goes to the link directly (bypassing my redirects), it may work OK which is fine, since the cookie being logged in my site is set. If they are not a member and bypass, they won’t get any further with any of the links, but would skip the registration page (since my redirects would not catch him). |

Is there a way to just block a subdomain with URI or similar, if that subdomain does a cname redirect to an entirely different website that I am not even hosting? However I am working with that other website and they will only accept incoming traffic from my site.

I am testing with just the Payflow API. When I checkout with my form I get this error: Update: posted here http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/localhost-testing-errors-ssl/

Are you sure then I don’t need to pay for this Payflow Pro service? The rep I spoke to said that is the only way for me to accept recurring payments via Paypal. |

OK, on Payflow/Recurring Billing, trying to figure this out…. So I just got Paypal Payments Pro. I want to use the integrated/embedded signup form and have folks signup for a monthly subscription. So I assume this is by definition, recurring payments, if we want them to pay once and forget until they want to cancel ;-). So I think, based on above, I need to use Payflow API. I looked everywhere for When I did login to this though, it shows Paypal recurring billing as another paid service?! So do I need Paypal Pro plus Paypal recurring billing or does s2member negate the need for this product? There’s a big $249 setup fee, ouch! Am I missing something? Can I do signup once, monthly billing without all this complication with Paypal services? https://manager.paypal.com/home.do

I assume you could also just create the username for them in WordPress backend and then assign them a status manually too, yes? |

My developer tells me we can use something like WP Affiliate Platform, so I am going to try that. http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate-platform-plugin-simple-affiliate-program-for-wordpress-blogsite-1474 |

OK so dumb question here. If I am tracking %%subscr_id% with the author’s post IDs – where does this get logged? Does s2member have its own logs or does this get stored in mysql or do I potentially pass this info into Google Analytics somehow? I don’t need this automated but I’d like to be able to say, quarterly, calculate revenue from membership signups and figure out which authors brought in what portion of those signups (not just the initial signup but lifetime revenues from each subscriber). Does that make sense? I would use that to reward bonuses to authors. |

Cool it looks like if I track %%subscr_id%% with the author’s post IDs, I can see how long each subscriber stays a member and reward authors based on recurring commissions until that member they’ve signed up cancels. Is that right? |

Thanks Raam – I am talking about doing this all on my own site, tracking my own subscribers from my own authors, no true affiliates involved. Would iDevaffil or Shareasale still work then? I was going to get a button coded in the edit-post UI that auto-inserts code to block premium content and inserts the signup link/banner. I will have the button add a tag to the link with the post ID and author ID I think. I would think I could create a goal in Google Analalytics with the “Thanks for subscribing” confirm page, and then manually see which incoming links led to that page? Would that work you think? |

I should add what I talk about above in C) I want some amount of content blocked to non-paid members, I mean when viewing the permalink itself. This is similar to how this member website works:

Thanks Cassel, just to be clear I am talking about if my site is the parent site and I want to manage my affiliates that are sending me incoming traffic? Is your site a content-providing site? If so would be interested to learn the URL. |
