What happens to their posts if the unsubscribe in each case – Demote and Delete.

I read this in S2Member general options page.

s2Member supports Free Subscribers ( at Level #0 ), along with four Primary Levels [1-4] of paid Membership. If you want your visitors to be capable of registering absolutely free, you will want to “allow” Open Registration. Whenever a visitor registers without paying, they’ll automatically become a Free Subscriber, at Level #0.

Can I use this feature to restrict content to registered users only ? I want some content to be viewed by registered (free) users only and not visible to non-registered users.

1. So that means free versioin of S2Member doesn’t have any option for free membership ?

2. Please clarify on the second part.
Say I have a free membership called Silver. Now after 1 year if I plan to charge for this Silver Membership what would happen to the existing members. Would they continue to access the site for free or would they require to pay?

3. If you could let me know a rough ETA for the new version it would be great :-)

Any idea when is the new version coming ?

Cristian I read in some thread

For subscriptions, s2Member does not store the EOT; it waits until it receives an IPN message from the payment gateway indicating an EOT should be assigned to the member.

So, if we do not supply IPN URL in paypal settings in our paypal account you would not get EOT message then how would the termination of non renewing members work ?

Also,

The major release that Jason is coding now, will allow for this feature you’re requesting. We wanted to have it ready a couple weeks ago, but it’s been a lot of work and it’s still got some weeks to go, I’m sorry to say. But it’s coming, that’s for sure, so look forward to it. :)

and

I understand you’d want to know. I’m not going to be optimistic, so I’ll say we may have a beta in a month and a release in two. It’s really very uncertain, but I don’t want to give hope again for a date that is not the right one in the end. :/

Any update on this new release that solves EOT problem.

I was also looking for similar solution … what if the payment received is not online but offline mode or what if we need to give few people free membership or at discounted rate.

Is it not possible to create a user/member from backend and assign particular membership level ?

I was also looking for similar solution. If I may ask bit more in this thread.
Can we send invitation via email. If yes how.
Can we send paypal payment link directly since we are not displaying payment details/paypal buttons on Membership options page?

Jason thats not what I want.
I have 1 paypal account and 5 different wordpress based websites.
Now I want to use S2Member on each of them.
While setup S2Member requires to put an IPN URL and autoreturn URL in Paypal settings page.
However, in Paypal there is an option of inserting just 1 IPN and 1 Autoreturn URL.
Now, if I have to setup 5 websites with S2Member, I would need to put 5 IPN URLs and 5 autoreturn URLs in Paypal. Which is not possible n Paypal.

Thanks Cristian … I couldnt understand the Membership system of S2Member also. How do I setup time limited memberships and role limited memberships. Can I have a Membership setup like
Gold – where the role of the Member would be set as contributor and access granted for 3 months.
Platinum – where the role of the Member would be set as Author and access granted for 6 months.

Hi Eduan .. thanks for the reply but my question is not about if I am allowed to install S2Member on various websites or not, its about how. Since each installation would require an IPN URL and auto return URL to be inserted in Paypal settings and Paypal only has option to put 1 input box. So you can’t put multiple IPN URLs an autoreturn URLs. That would limit the use of S2Member to one website.
