Cheers Marcus!

I’m going to try that!

I think I have found out why the user who can’t post is having problems.

For some reason EVERY post they try to make is going straight to spam in BBPress.

I can’t find any way to take this user off a spam list?

I don’t know if they have been flagged by accident, but do you know if there are any options for this somewhere?

What’s really bizarre is, I have installed this plugin and examined user capabilities in both the plugin menu and directly in the DB looking at the capability entry string.

The free user that can’t currently post, has the EXACT same capabilities as those free users who CAN post.

There are no differences, and yet this one user account that can’t post seems to be able to write a reply and submit it, the slug in the URL adapts as it should and increases the post number in the slug by one, but it then doesn’t show the post, and it doesn’t appear front or backend.

SO BIZARRE!

If I change their ‘Forum Role’ in the drop down at the bottom of their edit profile dashboard screen, then they CAN post normally.

I shouldn’t have to do this though.

Anyone have any kind of clue what else it could be?

Marcus, do you have a link to the specific role manager plugin? I have come across a few. Cheers :)

Nice one Marcus, that’s nice to know.

I haven’t upgraded on my production site, just on my staging site.

I’m going to leave ita few days and see what happens with any revisions.

The new dynamic system seems crazy really.

Hopefully they will sort out BBPress at the core.

Will check that plugin out now though, thanks!

Awesome!

Great advice, thanks for clarifying that for me! Really appreciate it! :)

Would love to take a look at your site for inspiration if you wouldn’t mind?

Hahaha, actually guys I THINK I might know what caused this and it’s pretty innocent.

I noticed the member had left a Capital letter off their name when they first registered so I went into the backend to change it in their profile.

It was at the time the upgrade was going through. It does look from the logs above that the S2 level WAS upgraded, BUT I bet when I saved the name change, it actually saved over all of the upgrade details that S2 would have just processed.

If someone could just confirm that the logs above look like they DID actually upgrade this member, i think we can put it down to that as the issue.

By the way, I have removed email addresses purposely above for privacy. they were all there in the logs just fine initially.

Great news Jason,

I too have fully migrated to using s@/ cloudfront/ JW Player and this plugin for all audio and video on my site, and it absolutely rocks!

Such a great plugin, and I am really looking forward to the new s2Member.

It amazes me everyday just what it enables me to do.

Hi guys!

This plugin is simply amazing and I am now preparing to use it to convert around 70 media files on my site from using S3Flowshield to S2 video shortcodes and cloudfront.

It just works, it’s brilliant and looks so nice and clean on my site.

I just need Jason to confirm that this won’t be redundant in the next version of S2 otherwise this will be wasted work transferring it all over.

In my opinion, and I’ve been using S2 since the very start, we should make this part of the core.

Could someone let me know before I start moving evrything over to S2 video shortcodes please.

THANK YOU! :)

It;s okay guys, I deleted the buckets and distributions and started again.

All works great.

I’ve got one bucket and one pair of keys for each site and all works great :)

Thanks Cristian, I’ll set the PayPal IPN to the one needed for Gravity forms and then simply leave S2 to create it’s on IPN setting on a per button basis.

Have a great weekend,

Ross :)

The bug with disappearing videos is JW Player, it happens on their official site in Chrome and Safari too.

Your plugin isn’t to blame :)

The only little thing that I notice Philly, and it might just be a browser thing is that if you load the video page up, then switch tabs in Chrome or Safari (I’m on Mac), when you switch back to the tab with the videos on, some of them disappear until you refresh the page.

It could be a JW player issue though and not the plugin?

Phily, THIS IS GENIUS!

Seriously, it’s nice and solid, and works great for logged in and logged out users!

Jason needs to incorporate this into the core for sure now!

I’ve tested it pretty thoroughly with S2 conditionals too and it seems to cover all bases. Works great with just mp3, also plays .mov in a h.264 wrapper, .mp4.

Exactly what I needed at the exact right time, I can’t thank you enough!

So Cristian and Jason, is this going to be part of S2 moving forward?

:)

My fault Philly, for some reason I had re-uploaded the old version! Hahaha, SORRY!

Will test now! :)

Hi Philly, yeah the plugin is installed and activated. The previous version worked just fine, i deleted it, and then uploaded this new version.

Only shortcodes showing in the page though, no media.

Very strange?

Hi Philly!

I’ve just installed the latest version but am only seeing the shortcodes on the page and not seeing the videos.

I must be implementing the codes incorrectly.

I have used the following:

[s2video downloadkey=”true” width=”640″ height=”360″ video=”video1.mp4″ ]

[s2video downloadkey=”true” start=”2″ width=”640″ height=”360″ video=”video2.mp4″ ]

Will the download key allow for non-logged in users to stream the files embedded on the page?

I don’t want them to be able to download them that’s all?

Thanks so much for your help so far! :)

UPDATE:

Using .mp3 and .mov with your shortcodes works great!

The only things to tweak would be to only show the player controls for .mp3’s and also allow for videos to be stacked as shortcodes:

[s2videos html5=”true” download=”false” size=”1″ width=”600″ height=”360″ video1=”video.mov”]

[s2videos html5=”true” download=”false” size=”1″ width=”600″ height=”360″ video1=”video.mp4″]

AT the moment, only the top video shows if done like this on the same page.

Making videos viewable to logged out members and simply adding simple S2 conditionals to display them to other levels would also be great.

Great work so far, this should become a core part of the plugin fi Jason doesn’t have something like this already in the works!

One last question Phily. Can we display more than one video on a page at a time?

Philly, thanks so much for your help!

.mov should be fine with JW Player from what I can see. I use it with flowplayer and it gets served up fine as it’s encoded as h.264

JW Player’s site says:

MP4 ( .mp4, .m4v, .f4v, .mov )

Files in the MP4 container format, containing video encoded with the H.264 codec and audio encoded with the AAC codec. This is today’s format of choice, supporting the best video quality and hardware accelerated playback on a wide range of browsers and devices:

Could you let me know about the mp3 audio option and also about showing videos to non-members that are accessing a paid access link.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)

Philly, this looks great!

Can I use these shortcodes to stream audio with S2, and is there anyway to serve the media to people who aren’t members?

I often sell single page access to people with S2 when they are not members.

I just need to embed the videos securely and on some pages place them in simple S2 conditionals to tell them whether to display or not.

Okay, I have got this to work with video no problem.

Changing the filepath to an mp3 doesn’t seem to work though, and I could also do with playing.mov too.

Is this possible? And is it possible to simply wrap the code in a simple S2Member conditional so that I can say which level it should be visible too?

If we could do that, this is perfect for what I need!

Thanks!

Also one more thing,

Can S2 embed videos and audio through JW Player that can be seen by people who aren’t logged in?

Effectively I give the option for people to purchase access links to pages even if they aren’t a member.

Can S2 still display JUST the streaming versions to these people?

I don’t want ANY member to have access to the download link, EVERYONE should only be able to stream!

Thanks :)

Cheers Eduan, looks great!

I’m just looking at the video tutorials Jason has done too.

So does JW Player and S2 support mp3 streaming too, and does the player adapt, to only show the control bar, rather than a blank video window?

Sorry for all of the questions, this looks very powerful indeed, and far better than my current set-up!

Ross :)

Wow guys, thanks so much for such detailed answers!

To be honest if I can get some BIG affiliates on board, then I really don’t mind giving over the full 50% commission.

Would be cool to be able to have the option of taking PP fees into account though in the next gen version of S2 though.

In terms of stopping affiliates from using their own links to save money, iDev have replied to me saying that it is just one of those things that is inherent to all affiliate programs.

I don’t mind cross referencing IP addresses if that is possible?

I’m not sure if iDev stores affiliates IP addresses when they register? (I can’t find it in the control panel of iDev if it does).

S2 is great in that it displays the IP of members in the backend of WP.

If I could cross reference the new member’s IP from S2, with the referring affiliate’s IP and they matched, I just wouldn’t allow the commisson.

Do you now if iDev stores affiliates IP addresses anywhere?

Would be great if the affiliate’s IP could be displayed in the email an admin gets when a commission has been generated. It shows the affiliates username, but I don’t think there is a shortcode in the email templates to display IP.

Thanks for all of your help so far guys! I’m still amazed each day by S2Member. What it allows me to accomplish is phenomenal!
