while ccaps are great and all – they are in the serialized array? anyway i have other plugins that I want to write registered users’ independant access level and they see the s2member levels not ccaps…. i think that s2member levels independant would be great. |

Your welcome all: A lot of people frown on separate databases…but if the info is segmented and accessbile and easily called to prefill other forms and be written from other forms cause the field names etc are easy to sync with, and you can pull info from that database together with others to create reports – i.e. userinfo in wp meta, ccap of editor in s2 table, favorite colour this month in formidable form, it would be great to be able to pull a report for that user who who is an editor with a favortie colour of blue, and if you can use a form generator to write to all three that is amazing. like i said formidable is already doing a lot of this and works as much as any form generator can with shortcodes even. I hope you s2member guys give formidable forms a serious look over and even contact the developer on her support forum – she is amazingly fast a response and through with her support. Keep on truckin’ |

Mary – you have it right in your case – it is a solution that i was going to apply as a workaround – just hide the page using s2member…and you are right all plugins should communicate directly with wordpress data – s2member does this really well for standard fields. what i understand (correct me if i am wrong) – s2member integrates with wordpress to allow the user to login register etc through s2member interfaces for the wordpress login window…. and s2member gives you the ability to determine content all users have access to. once logged in (with wordpress) your forum (if it integrates iwth wordpress users, should recognize you are logged in..so you dont need dual logins…..it was my understanding that s2member integrates well with bbpres and buddypress – it even has settings you can specify to synchronize tightly with buddypress (although a lot of other things can have issues with buddypress if not designed with buddypress in mind i.e.themes and other plugins – have noticed a lot of good developers lagging on buddypress integration and support for some reason, and hosting companies saying buddypress presents issues often – why some recommmend simple press – no experience with SP) Crisitian: wrt
To clarify again cristian correct me if i am wrong- s2member doesn’t manage it wordpress does, but s2member allows users to register and login to wordpress using / integrating with the wordpress login, and it even allows you to theme wp-admin login with you logo and thee is a login widget i believe…..
i have had success using other plugins like form builders etc (i.e. formidable forms – great support – developer is a wealth of knowledge in this area and could probably tell your developer about her experiences with some of this)) that allow the use of shortcodes in their fields – s2member has shortcodes for the basic user data – so my fields in the other plugin are easily prefilled…so yes withthe right plugin but that is where it stops to a degree – because of the current way s2member writes the data and especially custom fields, it is very difficult to call info from non standard user fields in s2member and it is hard to write back… i wanted tighter integration with the fields i was asking the user to fill out – not only use s2member to log someon in and keep their credentials and protect content – but also allow those credentials to be ported to another plugin (which is again possible for standard user fields easily) but that could also write back to s2members custom fields – also say for example my event manager plugin or my forms plugin allows a user to increase their membership level or custom capability (in my case) Iwould need the form or event manager plugin to do that automatically – but it appears like i have to do it manually for now – because i need those custom fields in my form and events plugins, i have to have the user enter it there….so future forms and events can use that info i.e. client sign on and fills out form…purchases event (which increases credential i.e. training) or using form purchases levl access of custom capability (cannot use s2member if i need that info available for future forms unless again i review all forms and manually up the users custom capaility afterward) 4000 active members on one site, to much manual policing for me, i want to set it and forget it, things are really close right now….i am excited that this might all become easily possible soon with the direction some of the mentioned developers are taking including s2member so i dont think you can go wrong with s2member with what you are trying to do – just let your developer know for the time being there are a few limitation to s2members “serialized array” set-up but i understand that is changing and i wouldn’t put a lot of expensive developement time into configuring for something that is immently chagning… |

i appreciate it…looking at event manager – none seem to allow multiple paypal accounts, gravity forms and s2members both have a workaround i believe – but are ntot event management ticketing type solutions |

thanks for reply – i will consider working with it (although I want to try to avoid creating monthly jobs in the future :) ) …you know i have been looking at event managers…it might seem that the membership could be treated more like an event with start and end dates – do you recommend any particluar event manager that might work well with s2member pro? also consider my need a feature request for upcoming releases – end of member ship date, or period based on calendar not on calculated months or days |

Memerbship year is important – at the very least can someone register for 2012? this would be a wise capability if not already. is there a workaround if not – like can i change the mailout and all affected documents and paypal to say you are registering for 2012, and then december 31st, end all memberships manually. or just change the amount of time every month on the button – 10 months, 8 months, in october 14 months what level of custom coding would be required to program this? if it is a few lines that isone thing… any direction is appreciated – almost a dealbreaker… :( definitely a feature request… |

sorry i lost it, have looked at hundred things since then and i cannot even remember which issue it was or how i searched to find it, as i clean off my desk if i come across a note about it i will update this. I maybe there should be a reopen request button right on the post pages – and a comment area why you want to reopen for review – i looked all over to message someone directly…there didn’t seem to be a way – it would be easier if i would have been able to request right when i was looking at it and had the answer in my mind |

thanks for the response – i will look into it more when i have time, i know the nav menus can be set to only show links to pages that the user has access to – it is a new feature i guess in the pro version… on first glance it appears as though your redirect works, you given me hope! :) |

I like the widget for login in pro forms – if logging in you don’t get the wp-admin window, your logged in and skip that window – nice. you can specify the register page as a url in the widget, as well as the login welcome page, logout redirection page – i like that it avoids the wp-admin login screen except for following three incidences: and forgot my password – wp-admin page aside if admin – then wordpress back end…. for admin i understand why it does that i think, can you change that? the other two – wrong or forgotten credentials – is there a way to keep that in the login in widget or create a page like the profile edit page ? |

ok i have looked at this for a few days now…. whether it is just tersus theme with setting for 3 column extended menus, or uber menu with headway theme, or ultimatum and its mega menu settings, i get the mega menus as long as i am logged in – when i am not logged in the menu option with 3 column submenus dissappear, only when i have alternative views protection set to protect the Nav Menus. DISCOVERY – – – – – – My top level multi mega menu was the s2 membership Login welcome page (which is always protected – – Homer Simpson Doh!!!!!) i tried to understand pre filtering before stumpling across this cause, and looked for a way i could use ccaps, but i am not getting it…. i think i have to learn about it – it would be nice to be able to filter out nav menus and it associated content based on ccaps – i plan to use ccaps moreso than member levels to sort out members and pages user meta export does not include avatar – that would be nice. aside – also it would be nice that the custom fields in user meta export to csv with a title for the row header instead of a title column, witht he title repeated down the column beside the variable

Aside – if it helps anyone – actually i did have an issue with menus, but it was because although i built a menu in the wp->appearance->menus, i didnt specify it in the upper left area where the theme main navigation can be selected from any one of the menus you build Solution for me was to just create actual links in the upper right of my website:
