So it is true as I said, no need to even notify them about changes and my guess that paying customers are just as good as non-paying customers is correct then. I will use the link you gave. Tx Cassel.

Hmmm, I see. In that case it is way simpler to protect the blog page/post with the s2 widget and after the teaser/intro put a more tag.
For non-subscribers make a subscriber options page and mark that in the s2settings.
Any non-subscriber clicking the more tag are automatically redirected to the subscribers option page.

I never received a notification on that. So I will keep pounding those doors. I guess paying customers are just as good as non-paying customers. meanwhile I lost 50 subscribers because the problem is still not solved.

Cassel

I like your approach but does that mean that the search engines can index the whole page?
That would be a nice one because if that is so then I can use it for sure.

Tx Christian,
I just found a golden nugget that makes it possible to determine whether the visitor is a regular one or a crawler.
take a look here: http://www.cult-f.net/detect-crawlers-with-php/ I am not sure yet how to use this but I certainly will play with it.

I will take a look into this. Tx Christian. If I have more questions I will come back.

OK, so far I understand the content of what is written about the one time payments and “Button Code Generator For Specific Post/Page Buttons”.

On my site I have over 100 articles that I want to make available to outsiders after payment.
The easiest way I see now is that I have ONE page (and ONE page only) where I have all the downloads.
What I try to achieve now is that this one page receives a parameter, being the name of the file to download.
How do I achieve that?

FYI, the site grows with 4 articles a week and I do not want to create a page for each download. That would be a bit too much in terms of maintainability as you, without any doubt, can understand.
These articles are ALL protected with s2member in a way that only paying members can access them after logging in. Also, the PDF downloads for members are only available after logging in.
I did put these PDFs in the s2member-files/app_data folder. can I use these same files for the paid downloads?

Any ideas, tips, hints, bright thoughts and/or working samples are welcome (MORE than welcome).

Hope to hear soon,

BL

I think I found the solution for my situation with “Button Code Generator For Specific Post/Page Buttons”.
Worth a study… :-)

@Pam, I found that plugin to be buggy as well. for now I only do PHP in functions.php of my theme.
That way I can make shortcodes that will achieve what I want.
@Christian, I disabled all plugins except the ezPHP. I also disabled the visual editor.
Then tested the code but the space is still inserted.

Christian,

I read through this thread and to be honest, disabling the visual editor is NOT an option for me.
It seems to me a half baked solution to disable anything that makes life easier in setting up and maintaining sites.

So far, I cannot use ezPHP. I am also NOT willling to disable the visual editor. There must be a better solution.

With all respect but THAT is not a solution. I use the visual editor 99% of the time and only every once in a while I use the html/text tab.

@christian, I use the text (of course???)

Actually, under the plugins directory you should have the following folders for s2member pro.
s2member
s2member-files
s2member-logs
s2member-pro

files and logs are created automatically once you start your site.
When you have the s2member-pro.zip on your disk and you open that you will see the s2member-pro folder with all the files in it.
Copy that folder into the plugins folder on your server.
you should then see under the plugins folder
* s2member folder
* s2member-pro folder
That should do the trick.

If you open your server and go to the dashboard you should now see s2member in the left area menu.

Let me know if this works for you.

Posted: Monday May 27th, 2013 at 5:23 pm #50725

how did you put the files on your server?
Are you aware that you need to add the folders from the zipfile using FTP.

Right… (sigh) That is as clear as muddy water.
This question had nothing to do with s2 other than that there are quite a few good php coders out here.
I was more thinking about adding one line to my theme functions.php to make the functions I created available. I guess now that there is not such a thing so I will have to keep merging my own functions into the functions.php. (sigh, talking about efficiency)

In VFP there was a command like: “Set procedure to ABC additive” adding all kind of function containing programs into one file… again… those were the good old productive days… Now I have to deal with php…
